most of their flights seem to be priced are priced £44.99 one way from what I've seen
most of their flights seem to have a limited number of seats priced at £44.99 one way...

Fair enough and I hope it is a success for them.

Loganair have employed a pilot who is HIV positive making them the first airline in Europe to do this, kudos to them for doing it.

Thought EZY had a pilot with HIV ages ago (after some legal case) ?

From the BBC News story, it's the same person "Pilot Anthony":

Sorry, won't let me post URL but a Google for "BBC News 51066420" should get you to the article.

The story is slightly off as he is the first to achieve an initial Class 1 medical certificate with HIV. Previously an established commercial pilot who developed HIV could continue flying.

I think that's exactly what the reports I've said refer to - he is/was the first pilot with HIV to be granted an initial medical cert. However, there seem to be few current pilots flying in EASA-land with HIV.

Good for him - a battle fought, and won, to achieve his aims. Everyone who's spoken about this has been 100% supportive, which is the way it should be, but encouraging all the same.

Working out where this airline actually flies is still a bit of dark art! I want to fly direct Norway - Scotland. Where can I fly from and to? Route map says Bergen - Glasgow, no idea if it's direct. Booking engine will let me chose a load of random stuff that clearly won't be direct, but can't be restricted to show choices for things that are direct. Is Bergen - Glasgow direct? Booking engine lets me search but then says it's not possible to actually do it...

Given the number of changes in their network in recent times (and given that for the prices they charge they're presumably aiming for people that want direct flights to odd places and are willing to pay a premium for the time saving; if I have to change I can do that with a cheaper airline), it would seem sensible to make it easy to find out where they fly. Reminds me a bit of what BMI became like...

Ta! :-) I used a third party mapping website to work it out. Not sure it's in Loganair's interest to lose potentially lose control of the booking process by people starting to browse elsewhere!

Im not sure I understand their logic of replacing a dated S2000 with a 24 year old ATR...

I know the plan is to replace the BA operated LCY-IOM flights with this, but apparently BA aren’t keen as the ATR doesn’t have a proper galley like the 2000... so proper catering for Club travellers.

Problem with the Saabs appear to be high operating and maintenance costs, the latter because of the difficulty to obtain spares (that is at least, IIRC, what other operators complained about). Loganair have never been really in the market for new aircraft in the past (except for the times when decisions for them were made at Caslte Donnington).

They will have plenty of time to serve the catering anyway with the ATR being so slow. FWIW the BA timetable shows the IOM to LCY flights as being ATR from April.
I am curious where the Club seats will be (not that I would ever be in them)? , convention seems to be at the front by the door but ATR loads from the rear

And, being a prop, the front tends to be noisier.
