The Xplore Dundee coach service to Edinburgh Airport has apparently been very successful in its first months of operation with peak services being operated by two coaches simultaneously. This must surely be taking a fair chunk of DND-STNs customers?

On that basis I can’t see what harm shifting to SEN would do, and can’t see the benefit of upgrading to an ATR unless they’ll be attempting to boost demand by lowering fares.
Loganair will be retiring the Saab’s in the not too distant future, hence the switch to the ATR.

I wish. My weekly commute to Cheshire has doubled from 2 to 4 hours!

If you think that level of direct analogy works, you cannot seriously be an airport planner. DND-STN is predicated on getting Dundonians into London, it's already hard pressed to do so offering a service to STN, whereas the old Suckling LCY-DND did quite well as it served the heart of (East) London, it had a selling point of dropping you into Central London and charged a premium for doing so. The USP of a DND-STN is nowhere near so strong, the marketability of SEN on that basis even less so. Now if you want to serve DND-SEN then fair play, but it's not realistic to compare it as a fast service connecting Dundee to London worthy of a taxpayer subsidy. I live in London, going all the way to Southend-on-Sea to catch a turboprop to Dundee when they're an hourly jet from LHR-EDI is nonsense on stilts. By all means go after the point-to-point niche market but THAT should not be subsidised.

Could just be a temporary according to this, switch to LCY might be coming soon!

Does anyone know when the Saab 2000 will be withdrawn from the LCY-IOM route?
Thanks,

It's only going to be flying mail around so I am sure it's age won't be an issue.

Loganair are using Blue Islands AOC until they(Loganair) get the ATR included on it. Blue Islands are also crew training the Logan crews

Something odd when attempting to book LDY-MAN in Jan 2020 with Loganair.

Only bookable days in Jan 2020 are the Friday 3rd Jan and Sunday 5th Jan. All other days showing a red X and 'Sold Out'.

Anyone know whats up?

After reading the fleet lists on Jethros and planespotters.net, I have realised that the youngest of the ex-HOP AT45s due to replace the S2000 fleet is older than the youngest S2000! Whats the point of introducing a "new" 24 year old fleet? Surely even if they are cheaper to run, they'd have to be replace them relatively soon?

I imagine parts are easier to come by for an ATR than a saab so the age shouldn't be a problem in itself.

You could book Ryanair to Liverpool instead.
