A nice shiny new ATR order would have been nicer!

I'd have been surprised if they'd ordered a freighter straight off the production line, tbh...

Perhaps the corporate memory of their previous new aircraft orders still exists. None of it exactly worked out well at the time, so I’m surprised anyone would be thinking they’d rush headlong into repeating the exercise!!

Makes perfect sense to me to bring in older aircraft given regional flying is, let's face it, not the most profitable.

I’d struggle with the exact chronology but it was the J41s and ATPs ordered as a means of exiting the 146s I think.

Which, I think, was more an Airlines of Britain order resulting in some of the catch ending up with Loganair. 1992, IIRC.

Loganair appear to have dropped one of the three flights from Glasgow to Southend. The one that operated from and to Stornoway has been removed and now flights involve a change in Glasgow.

Looks like Aberdeen has also had its lunchtime departure removed.

Looks like Loganair the latest to find out trying to make a route work out of a place like Aberdeen isn't easy. Place is littered over history with route & airline failures. Small city & catchment area plus the sole industry in sunset permanent decline means struggle.

To be fair, 3x daily to SEN is a bit of a stretch from any Scottish Airport!

Recent loads have been quite evenly spread, although with the morning flights being less supported in both cases. It's a bit like the old adage that a daily flight doesn't work but a double-daily does and the same can sometimes be said for a 3 x daily when the route, to LON for example, has relatively high numbers overall as do GLA and ABZ.

well im guessing that the loads haven’t been good enough if they’re dropping the middles, either that or the yields are not enough and the tickets too cheap.

Mmm, doesn't bode well for SEN, Carlisle routes. Wonder if the SEN-GLA reduction affects the SYY through route...

The Carlisle services were never on sale for Saturdays beyond mid September - it was always a planned seasonal service reduction.

The Southend changes are apparently to improve the evening schedules. Stornoway is still there from Stornoway to London every day, and from London to Stornoway on Sundays only with connections via Glasgow on other days.

Based on the website and someone I know who was booked on it the SYY to SEN is no longer direct. All the flights bookable now have an aircraft change in Glasgow. LM425 is a terminates in GLA and you connect to the GLA-SEN.

The benefit of a one stop service to those on Lewis is now gone, as you’d be better to use the LM/BA connection in GLA to LHR, as you will leave SYY at the same time and land into LHR 45 mins, 30 mins later and you an be in central London.
