Shrewd move when they analysed the forward bookings. The demographic appears to be completely different to the EW service before it, with homespun outbound leisure rather than business or significant inbound which is perfect for this winter frequency. In the absence of code share and connections at this stage, it was never going to be a mid winter connections bonanza.
The review of the fleet ops for the winter will have impacted on this early decision also.
Will need time to grow and find its place in a particular market. They can no doubt look into codeshares etc at a later date if economically viable and in their best interest.

the problem is that LM seemingly aren't able to attract those market segments and as such they're struggling.
Iirc, over the past 2 winters EW have managed to operate this route at a reasonable freq with Dash-8s or airbus and even in midwinter have seemingly carried more than enough pax to sustain an E145 operation. As such, it seems very questionable to say this is an issue of overall demand (I dont believe these pax have just disappeared). Its more an issue for LM, i.e. lack of connetions, lack of brand awareness in Germany, lack of biz traveler awareness etc.
Cutting freq may be a "shrewd move" in someways, but it's not going to help them build biz traffic or endear them to pax who have their flight cancelled.
This surely raises questions for LM and their other Euro routes and plans - If they can't take a over a proven route and sustain it by attracting/retaining the existing demand, then how can they hope to gain traffic on new routes? They've already dropped ABZ-OSL and intial numbers on NCL-BRU seem well down on bmi numbers, so it may well not be an isolated problem.

The aircraft that does this flight usually does the 0700 to SYY and back first. Last week there seemed to be weather delays and cancellations for a few days on this route and one day the flight circled SYY a few times and returned to Glasgow. Conditions must have improved shortly after as they flew to SYY again, landed and returned to GLA after midday. The timekeeping to DUS has been quite good apart from this day. On the other days that this weather lasted, I think the morning SYY flight was cancelled and the passengers were probably carried on the later SEN GLA SYY aircraft and a Saab 34.

LM currently operate a fleet of 4 S2000’s, with 1 of the aircraft currently being based at IOM.
Currently none of LM’s W19 scheduled services are showing as being operated by S2000’s.
Does anyone know if there any plans plans when it comes to the future of the remaining 3 S2000’s ?

Discussions underway for between 11-13 ATR 42s currently and an additional 2 ATR 72 freighters. The 42s estimate entry to service in the next 24-30 months directly replacing the Saab fleet. The 72 will be sooner than this depending on levels of freight business and also how the 4 incoming ATRs are received given it’s a new operating platform for the airline. Will be interesting to see how this will work out and when these ATRs are in service where the jets will fit into the picture given the props lower overhead costs

BA will not update the schedule until they know exactly when the AT4 is expected to be ready to enter service.. Adjusting capacity will be easy the AT4 will only have two less seats than the S2000

Invitations for tenders for the DND operation closed yesterday, so it will be interesting to see what develops.
My money is on the route moving to SEN, especially if the rumours of STN recently increasing their operating charges have any truth to them.

Certainly would allow Loganair to build and consolidate a mini domestic hub at SEN with Glasgow, Aberdeen and Carlisle, perhaps longer term they might try to connect Derry there too.

Does anyone know what happened to G-SAJG? It flew GLA DUS on 22nd July but the return flight LM272 was cancelled. G-SAJK is now doing it's routes, is JG still on the ground over there?

JH is on the ground in Londonderry, due to either crew sickness or tech. ( I presume tech). Overall the dispatch reliability of the ERJ fleet seems to be vastly improved BMR. Just seems like one of those days.
