I suspect that it has.

It actually positioned Aberdeen to London City on Monday evening to undertake a rescue mission from LCY-IOM because of problems with ATR42 G-LMRA which was stranded at London City.
On Tuesday morning it did a IOM-LCY, again covering for the ATR before positioning back to ABZ before going over to Orebro.

Seems a bit harsh - launched a couple of routes, didn't work so they dropped them. Not the first, and won't be the last. Hardly the end of the world?

And I see all of G-LMRA's IOM-LCY-IOM rotations were late again today. The first flight by 3 hours or more.

Time to get the SAAB back! ;-)

It's an interesting topic of conversation. Someone had counted up the other day and we have apparently launched 32 new routes in the last year and ditched 8. Even though some were probably dead certs like the EMA-EDI & GLA routes, there are many that weren't but have worked. A few of the 8 were said to be reliant on outside forces like corporate arrangements or airport support which sound not to have turned out as expected either. Certainly I think it's far better that routes that aren't working are dropped quickly instead of being allowed to rack up big losses.

If it's late, the ATR is doing better than the Saab 2000 did at that stage of its life then. If my memory is right, even the Saab 2000 CAA demo flight was about eight hours late!

Thanks jipc,
I see that - as mentioned in an earlier reply to my question about the type's withdrawal from LCY - the Saab still has several LCY-IOM-LCY rotations left up until the end of the month.

The EMA-BRU was a bit of a poor show, as personally I think LM waited way too long before
starting it. Most of the regular pax who enjoyed the route with BMI (Toyota workers usually) had found other options in the 5 months or so that route was inactive. September was just too late, and the loads showed it. Only lasted a couple of months. Doing it from INV was also a bit of an odd decision too. That was the second failed attempt at INV Embraer expansion in 2019 (INV-EMA and INV-BGO cancelled). Can’t be much call for EMA to Northern Scottish airports at all, considering the ABZ now been postponed.

Loads seem pretty decent on the GLA-EMA and EDI-EMA though.

I have heard a report (from two separate sources) that Logie management paid a visit to EGNS last week and met with the local Government and airport management. It sounds suspiciously like they are trying to protect themselves against the failure of a certain other airline.

Do they currently have the capacity to pick up any current BE routes from EGNS?

If paid enough, I'm sure they do...

On Island, yes. But I'm certainly not aware of any Gov (outside of Airport related) or ministerial engagement.

To be honest, reports are saying that Loganair have been planning for Flybe’s demise for a long time, and prior to FlyBMIs closure. So anything could be on the table. Would have to say a Saab to Manchester and Liverpool from the Island I don’t think would work, flights are busy. So more ATRs?

Question is: Is that a big thumbs down for SEN, or ABZ - LONDON?

If it’s the former then expect ABZ - LCY to be announced soon. LCY worked hard to woo Loganair and the DND PSO route.

The problem with LCY is the airport charges. Whereas SEN might charge £15 a pax LCY are charging £50+

I can’t quote you any figures, but I believe LCY looked at Loganair at SEN and thought “This should be ours” How can we reach some common ground with the airline, certainly enough to encourage them to commit a season or two to the city airport.

According to this article on Ch-Aviation the 2 ex BE ATR72-600’s are being subleased to LM through until just before the end of there lease term with BE. Does anyone know how long the aircraft are leased for?
