Seems a bit of a waste of time replacing 30 year old aircraft with 25 year old aircraft...

If they are replacing the Saab 2000's, most of them are younger that 25 years old!

Hop recently retired the last 4 ATR42-500’s from there fleet. It was mentioned in a earlier post that the delay in adding the ATR’s to the fleet was due to the delay in the confirmation of the Royal Mail contract. Does this mean that the ATR’s are replacing the SF3 freighters?. As the oldest of these is nearly 33 years old.

https://www.airfleets.net/flottecie/Hop!-stored-atr.htm

Hop currently operate only one 500 series ATR72, the rest are 600 series aircraft. The 1 500 series aircraft is 17 years old.

LM have been experiencing disruption to there ops at NWI for the last few days. A number if flights have either cancelled or experienced long delays. It looks like this is due to a problem with G-SAJT, which has been on the ground since Friday evening.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is with this aircraft?.

LM currently have at least 2, possibly 3 spare jet aircraft sat on the ground in ABZ. I am surprised that one of these wasn’t flown to NWI on Sunday to add some stability to the operation after the disruption on Saturday.

A SF3 had to be positioned from GLA this morning due to lack of a spare or replacement aircraft at NWI. This mornings MAN was delayed by over 3 hours as a result. As a result of this delay, the lunch time NWI-EDI-SVG-EDI-NWI service was delayed 4 hours ex NWI. In a effort to minimise the delay to the rest of this service. LM decided to position a ER4 to EDI at lunchtime to take over the operation of the EDI-SVG-EDI part of this service.

Have you thought about going for a job in Loganair Ops? This almost unhealthy obsession with where their aircraft are would seem to be a good qualification....

I agree, it is very harsh. There is nothing wrong with passion and interest.

Maybe a bit on the harsh side, but honestly, more than half of the recent stuff on this thread should surely be in Spectators' Balcony - why G-YYYY hasn't flown for the last three days, what name G-XXXX is going to have. It's not exactly news.

Doesn't reflect to well on this comment from the launch...

Loganair launches two new jet routes from Aberdeen

Loganair already has strong operational bases in both Aberdeen and Norwich – a route which can be served with a strong level of resilience due to the availability of aircraft and engineering support at both ends – making the routes a natural fit in the Loganair network.

Nobody has mentioned what the problem might be. SAJO & SAJB did some of the flights. G-RJXE had also been idle since Friday night but came back into play last night. I saw her earmarked for painting in mid June, so maybe that has been deferred if they need her for cover.

Some suggesting the undisclosed ATR order at PAS was for Loganair.
Was never going to be... and confirmed as STOL equipped for Air Tahiti...

However, there is another 42-600 firm order for 20 by NAC due for delivery in LMs timeframe. It could be for LM as if they were going for brand new 42s, i'd doubt they'd be ordering direct rather than leasing them.

Thought that earlier myself actually. I also read somewhere that Loganair were to be the launch customer of a SFP version of the ATR42 if they did indeed decided to go for new frames.

Copied on Carlisle thread:

I notice Aircraft operating this morning (ES-NSD) to Dublin & Belfast has been substituted at Carlisle for the LM 607 to Suthend by another Saab A340 aircraft G-LGNC. Wonder if ES-NSD has gone tech on first day of Loganair operations ex Carlisle?

Loganair

I think you will find they wanted to use a Loganair aircraft in full colours to get the most from all the press coverage

3 x SF340 at CAX today? Something’s gone wrong then.

ES-NSC hasn't flown since however. Maybe just trying to make the Apron look active for the publicity shots? Far fetched, but not out of the question.

Or perhaps need for a G- aircraft operating on Loganair AOC as more appropriate as Secretary of State for Transport (Chris Grayling) apparently a passenger on the inaugural Southend flight?
