Been told that the States of Guernsey told Aurigny no 'normal' flying until October which is why they went ahead and cancelled everything up to the end of August before the official update came from the States the other week.
Was also told Aurigny are very keen to get a second daily flight between Guernsey and Southampton going as on certain days they are now carrying decent loads (presumably people who have decided they will travel and put up with the 2 week lock down in Guernsey) however the States have told them no so the jet may be rolled out a bit more than every Friday.
I know it means very little but did a few dummy bookings for the next few weeks and certain flights (mainly the ones into Guernsey) were suggesting 50+ seats reserved onboard the aircraft, one flight was £199 one way basic fare.
The above came from a family member - no direct link to the airline but this being Guernsey they probably know the right sort of people to be told from someone in the know

I believe a number of seats are blocked off to enable 'social distancing' on each flight.

If people are desperate to travel maybe it is Iceland, I believe they are basically Covid free and opening up from next week. I could see some demand from the Iceland end too given Guernsey’s relatively decent weather (certainly compared to Iceland) and that it’s ‘safe’ to visit

I think we islanders need a shot of warm sunshine after all this virus cr*p, I doubt many will want to head to Iceland - stunning as it is.
I wonder if GR are looking at any souhern 'airbridges'?

1) Aurignys E195 performance from Guernsey's short runway. It's going to need to pass through - say Jersey - to also pick up additional passengers and we all know what relationships are like between the Islands down there...
2) It's OK Guernsey having a 'corridor' to say Malta. But if the UK has a corridor there as well for arguments sake, then it takes away the whole safety element of why the corridor exists in the first place.
Maltah as been touted. But I thinkt the biggest problems are;

GR have done some sun routes before I believe and want to say it was a GCI-JER-MAH Menorca service on Saturdays. I don’t think it lasted particularly long though so maybe worth a second go now. If air fares are set to rise at all then flying from the Islands direct rather than connecting via London or the mainland may be a beneficial option.

When they were playing round with HUET the other weekend before she went up to Aberdeen there was an ATR visible at the back of the hangar which I presume was LERE

2 nights at the Premier Inn
Yes, that is true. But, for me, it is cynical exploitation on the part of the airlines to charge as much as they do to avoid this problem ! I won’t pay the premium, regardless. But , I understand the feelings of those who do. That is what makes me a “real” Guernseyman !
