UK Govt set the guidelines and IF a business met them then funding was supplied. If they have done anything illegal then perhaps it would be good to raise it. The fact you do not like it is not I believe a valid reason under HMG proposals.
Anyone thinking that WZZ or any other airline in this situation doesn’t need cash is deluding themselves in the current situation. They managed to reduce their cost base by 85% in Q2 granted, but have deferred a lot of costs and bookings down the line.
My understanding is that they qualified for this loan as they were registered in a U.K. territory. They also have a UK AOC which keeps 100s of people directly employed. It needs to be paid back and EZY have been very upfront with their need to structure in their repayments.
They are almost going to build their way out of their “recession” rather than their competitors who are hunkering down. The proof will be in the pudding if it pays off.
Of course the original comment to this nature above was never about said posters political opinions about the typical Wizzair customer...

Really, at this point you could really forecast anything. There is really no way of knowing, but next summer will be crucial for a number of airlines. Whether this is hope or expectation, we’ll know next year, but they boldness this summer backfired in some cases and have now come to the realisation that the winter is going to be rather difficult.

Hunkering down and saving cash because you see what is in front of you can be a good or bad strategy depending on what is happening in market. In this case it is a good strategy because all the same messages are everywhere, the mistake is mis interpreting the message and assumming yopu know different.

With the Red Node short haul fleet (5 LGW based pre-COVID?) appearing not to be returning to LGW, will Wizzair make them an offer for slots they cannot refuse?
Blue Swan report that Wizzair is hitting out at Norwegian by launching more domestic routes:

Trying to work out whether increased flights from Luton to Canaries are increases or just full resumption of orginal services, they now fly twice a week from London Luton Airport to Lanzarote and Fuerteventura and three times per week to Gran Canaria and Tenerife........
