Wizz UK will soon have 11 based aircraft at Luton and operate to 16 airport's not in Eastern Europe (some seasonal). These routes do not include Moscow and Saint Petersburg due to commence in October. I would suggest that is a bit bigger than a foot in the door eiffel.

With Brexit, it wouldn't be surprising to see thousands of Polish, Roumanians, Hugarian, Bulgarian, etc... leaving the UK…. So not sure the UK is a promising market for Wizz. They have opened Luton just as an AOC set up in order to have a foot in the door and to still have some sort of access to the British market… but I suspect that's about it…. Not sure if the growth is in that direction for this airline….
Wizz has expanded well beyond taking the stereotypical Polish plumber between London and Warsaw. However, routes to eastern Europe carrying people back and forth still form the core of their operation at Luton

Also even if all migrant workers moved back some of the more ‘traditional’ Wizz routes have UK originating leisure demand - Bourgas, Budapest, Gdansk, Split, Warsaw etc. Unless of course Brexit is such a disaster we can’t afford to go anywhere.

Wizz has historically being operated niche markets. Also, apart from very few exceptions (and at least untill recently), they have been known to try to avoid any sort of head on competition (even within Eastern Europe...). A very different business model than EasyJet… But with these 273 aircraft orders coming, their strategy may changed of course and I may be proved wrong…

A number of the large order will replace some of the existing aircraft in the present fleet and remember it is not Wizz that have ordered the aircraft but there largest shareholder Indigo Partners which have interests in a number of low cost airlines worldwide.

I'd say 276 allocated from the Indigo orders (430) outstanding, is way more than just replacements

Im not totally sure on Wizzair's fleet renewal policy, but would imagine like most low cost airlines they have a policy of keeping quite a young fleet, so some of this is likely to be used to replace older aircraft. Some of the fleet is already approaching 11+ years old.
I would also imagine they would have long term goal to be an all NEO fleet, to ensure they have the most fuel efficient aircraft.

Yep confirmed as 4 new routes:
Budapest 3x weekly from 21st of December
Gdansk 3x weekly from 19th of December
Warsaw 4x weekly from 18th of December
Bucharest 2x weekly from 23rd December
All of these are to Edinburgh.

Wizz had plans for transatlantic with Island stop, and also there are some plans for expansion to India. However, introducing a321XLR may jump Island, and it makes possible connections from Europe to South America where Indigo partners have stakes.

The A321XLR means they can go direct from Eastern Europe to US East Coast.
