Could I very gently nudge people towards talking about Gatwick on this thread ?
I imagine a general Covid thread might generate more active responses from a multitude of people with active interest if one wants to discuss the number of Covid cases in Portugal

Seems that from July British Airways are moving some of their Gatwick services to Heathrow.

Apparently, at least as far as Jersey is concerned, the Gatwick route is only being transferred to Heathrow until BA re-starts operating from Gatwick. It is only supposed to be for the short term.

Anyone know anything about Easyjet launching a Gatwick-Stockholm route on 20 July ? Presumably as Norwegian is in a somewhat weakened state..
(Thanks to pabely for mentioning the web page)
No, it's not bookable on the Easyjet website

Probally holding off as travel restictions are likely to be lifted for France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Belgium, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Turkey and Finland, but not for Portugal & Sweden next month.

The Times are reporting although parts of Lisbon have a lockdown, Portugal will be included. I suppose we will see over the weekend.

Looking at the ACL slot report it seems as though virtually all of LGW’s airlines applied for slots at LHR which broadly meet the number that have at LGW - eg Aurigny, China Airlines, Rwandair, Georgian, Ukraine, Westjet. Do they always try their luck or is this a new thing?

Gatwick was always Heathrow waiting room, the list is quite long of carriers who made switch but for example Cathay, Delta,Continental, all started there London routes into Gatwick before switching. Also as airlines started to fail like TWA /PAN AM they were at Gatwick last.
Cheers

I know the history but was just surprised to see almost LGW’s entire customer base on there. Some I would have expected but others like Westjet not so much. I’ve not noticed it before. So is it a recent thing?

Seems to be on the list now along with some Carrabien Islands according to The Guardian.
The Mail is saying "The automatic 14-day quarantine requirement will remain only for 'red-rated' countries such as the US and Brazil. Travel between 'green' and 'amber' countries will be quarantine-free, but passengers will have to fill in a 'locator form' to trace their movements.

'Green' countries include Austria, Croatia, Greece and Germany while 'Amber' countries include France, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland and Spain.

It is hoped an agreement will be reached with Australia and New Zealand in the coming weeks to add them to the list of 'green' countries."

I imagine if Ukranian move to Heathrow, would Wizz magically step in with the Kyiv route (although probably to Zhuilany not Boryspil) ?

Suspect the Aurigny application for LHR is more to do with protecting their Gatwick operation - if by some miracle slots come up they would rather have them (and if need be move some of their GCI - LGW and the daily Stansted flight) rather than let a rival in and have to compete on the Guernsey - London route.

They were very quiet about anything to do with Heathrow until Flybe announced the Guernsey - Heathrow flight for last summer and then they started applying for their own slots.

Looks like BA have pulled all their LGW short
haul slots for August today. I wonder if they are moving them all to LHR?

Another blow to Gatwick with the cancellation of Norwegians Boeing aircraft order and maintenance agreement.
The new Boeing hangar being built if not yet finished was for that maintenance agreement.

I was not sure if it had opened, thought it might have.
I wonder how it is going to fair now that Norwegian has dumped Boeing Goldcare?
