Ohhh dear…..after Dame Carolyn....it all started falling apart...…………

After all.....even after this virus and its following waves...who's going to go flying.

No point therefore in saving...…………

goodbye...……………….

easyJet aren't offering refunds and I suspect have no intentions of changing that.

legally entitled to one
if you try to ask and dont get it, make a note of the contact date and time, and initiate a chargeback with the payment card provider

They did push this out into media yesterday:Easyjet has told us (Thursday, March 26, 2020) the following

‘Customers on cancelled flights can transfer to an alternative flight free of charge or receive a voucher for the value of their booking online or claim a refund through our contact centre.

However, impossible to get through to their
contact centre at present!

They shouldn't be withholding it, but you can see why they're trying. Without trying to point out the obvious, this is going to cause a huge cash flow crisis. The credit card companies will also not release a % of the funds until the flight itself has taken place, so they'll be paying out money they actually haven't received as of yet.

Seriously, airlines give refunds if flights they got cancelled simple as that. Fill in a flight refund form. Do a google search. It's that simple.

Airline who are offering vouchers are doing so as an alternative. If you are planning on using Aer Lingus again it's a great offer, I got opted for a voucher. It's 10% extra over what you paid and can be used up to 5 years into the future. In fact Aer Lingus have allowed people who were meant to travel in April and May (even if flight still flying) to get this same voucher.

There is a lot of noise and often imho incorrectly and unfairly. This industry will take a long time to recover. The sector is shrouded in EU rules and protection, the customer is well covered. In my experience Aer Lingus has always been fortright and followed the law.

Passengers can always contact their credit or debit card companies and ask for a chargeback as the airline has failed to provide a service that has been paid for. The card company then just removes the money from EasyJet’s account whether they like it or not. Easyjet then has the right to appeal which I would doubt they would do as they have no grounds to hang onto the money.

It also covers transactions below £100 unlike Section 75 agreements.

Given that they are splashing out on a new HQ & paying out substantial dividends to shareholders, there is no excuse not to refund. Can't say - sorry we are legally obliged to pay the dividends and then say we are not paying the legally obliged refunds. Just make it "easy" to refund and cut the hassle. The Aer Lingus idea of voucher +10% & 5 years is a good option - for those that want it.
I'm in similar situation with TAP who are currently refusing any refunds - only vouchers and only for 12 months.

I have a booking for a flight on 2nd April, which was cancelled back in 17th March. I went through the "manage disruption" process and selected a refund. I got an e-mail that confirmed my refund was on the way. Until yesterday, the booking showed as 'Refund Pending' but, having read your post, I can see that it has reverted to 'Manage Disruption' and when I select this option, a cannot actually request a refund. It's only £55 so I may well just roll it forward. I'm a flight club member, so when (if) normal service resumes, I should be able to make use of it.

It does seem however, that in their desperation to conserve cash, they are resorting to some pretty underhand strategies. Probably not coincidence that Peter Bellew (ex-Ryanair) is now in post as COO!

EasyJet have updated their list of rescue flights, though appears to be from Gatwick and from/to Belfast only:
https://www.easyjet.com/en/policy/co...rescue-flights

Also appears nothing at all is bookable in April

Getting regular messages through various media pushing w20/21 holidays & flights.

I’m not ready to part with my cash, but I can see persuading people to take advantage of an early discount is the way forward for a company strong enough to survive this crisis.

No insurance cover for Corona related issues including medical. Who is to say that there will be no cases left by then?

Aircraft moving to storage
easyJet will be moving aircraft out of its bases at EDI, GLA, BFS and NCL today and position them to LPL and SEN for storage.
This will mean aircraft will be parked at LGW, LTN, STN, SEN, BRS, MAN and LPL only.

To LPL
All 7x based BFS aircraft to position to LPL today for storage (1x A319/6x A320)

To SEN
All 8x based EDI aircraft to position to SEN today for storage (3x A319/5x A320)
All 4x based GLA aircraft to position to SEN today for storage (2x A319/2x A320)
All 3x based NCL aircraft to position to SEN today for storage (2x A319/1x A320)

Curiously there is currently an A319 heading in the opposite direction (SEN-NCL). Is this taking the crew up to operate the ferries?

FR also seem to be flying a few aircraft around between bases today.

An extraordinary letter from Stelios to the Board of easyJet has been published today. He demands the cancellation of the outstanding order for 107 aircraft from Airbus, stating that their deployment will be unprofitable. If he doesn't get consideration of this plan, he intends to call EGMs every 7 weeks to challenge the non-exec Directors one by one, until a largely new Board accepts his proposition.
Full letter here::
