I thought T3 got rid of their reservations set up, so don't now have the infrastructure to operate scheduled flights in their own right?

The BE/T3 agreement was for five years. Surely BE aren't walking away already?

I'd imagine the IOM-BHD route should have been successful, the Isle of Man needs these routes.

The the ludicrous decision to get easyjet onto the iom - bfs route will have taken the profit away from eastern, and as expected they pulled off which probably explains why they ditched the other Belfast routes. (Can't speak for NCL however)

this mwans Belfast and the IOM now go from severa flights a day to 2 a week ...

It's called competition and IOM to Belfast has not seen several flights a day since Manxy 2/Citywing pulled out due to dodgy practices then Eastern rescued the route charging up to 232 return.

Yes, that is so, Cumbrian Boy, but at least the IOM-BFS-IOM EasyJet flights, which will start next month, are:
- Initially operating on Mondays and Fridays which are the most important days of all
- Likely to see the days of operation increase in time IF the demand is there
- Quite well-timed and surely will prove to be far more punctual and reliable than the service by Flybe / Eastern
- All year round. EasyJet, before the service has even started, with the recent publication of the October to February timetable has made it clear that this service is going to be all-year-round
- Up to 75% cheaper than the Flybe / Eastern prices. You probably do not know this but numerous people, including some frequent business and domestic travellers, have ignored the Eastern / Flybe service completely (refusing to pay exorbitant amounts) and they have been travelling IOM - Belfast and Belfast - IOM via Liverpool or via Dublin (+ a train) and saving very large sums as well as benefiting from often superior timings too.

As a previous flyer to Belfast ex IOM, we gave up completely once Flybe / Eastern prices came along. Now we intend to return and use this route much more often.

Oh well, Katy can rest on her laurels for her marketing award as she secured the prestigious route from Belfast s favourite airport to Carlisle international.

Monday and Friday are not the most important days, they are the busiest leisure days, but I've said this before the IOM needs frequency at a reasonable price, not an LCC Taking the cream off on the two busiest days of the week and leaving the route otherwise woefully underserved.

The IOM economy and business on the IOM needs frequency, it's the biggest thing spoken about in business circles, of course the leisure and VFR market love easyjet and don't see the problem, but the Isle of Man economy is in decline and connectivity, or lack thereof, is a key reason for this.

I totally agree eastern and their prices/product are wrong for the route, but I do think an ATR operator offering a daily service, maybe twice daily on thenpeak days would be a far better option for the island.

Likewise with london, but I don't want to hijack the BHD thread (just realised this isn't the IOM thread) but it's a point worth noting

From memory
I think part of the deal when the Spanish Ferovial took over there was a clause saying management were part of the deal for 125 years. So maybe reshuffling is harder.

As I'd said KLM would be moving operations, BA also. QATAR once confirmed and as the largest shareholder in IAG will want BA at Belfast International.

Why would they want BA at BFS? BA don't operate to CWL or BHX (except Cityflyer which started after QR) and that doesn't stop them from operating at those airports.

Oh and personal insults on this thread is a sure way of getting it closed so DC9 it's not a good idea.

But then again there is this big investment
Unusual for a company to invest so much if they don't have something shaking

IOM Route...

I've read with interest the various debates about routes to and from Island communities, IOM being a notable one. This is not a case of who charges the cheapest, the island needs a daily service to a range of destinations and Belfast has always been one of the top routes. Easyjet will create new business and in my view fills a space in the market. However, Eastern has insane pricing, so that was bound to depress the demand. Routes like iom bhd need a commuter style propeller aircraft with realistic pricing and frequency. Manx2 though small at one point had 10 flights a day on this route and over 2000 pax per month. That's a portion of what used to travel the route, when multiple daily 360's used to go. Though leisure business has declined, family and business links remain. Easyjet will drive the leisure business. Eastern will not, hence why they'd have axed the route whether easyJet came asking or not...
