Paying more

i would have gladly paid more; I can’t understand why FlyBe management didn’t price the routes properly. They had virtual monopolies on some routes, eg IOM, SOU. Poor market awareness.

Does anyone know what happened to the Heathrow slots ? Were some transferred back in November and were they just being returned having been loaned to Flybe ? Do the "remedy" slots return to IAG or have Flybe managed to operate them long enough for them to take ownership and transfer them to Virgin or other carrier?

They return to BA, who have to give them up to any operator who wants to run those routes.

Correct, they have to go back to BA.

The interesting question is whether or not BA would voluntarily release slots at LHR for the Newquay PSO to another operator if someone asked. I don't know that anyone will, but that would certainly be a conundrum. They certainly have no legal obligation to, so I am guessing that the answer would be "no", but it might not be a popular answer in political circles.

With BA operating the Newquay route on a commercial basis, albeit on an adhoc basis, does this not remove the need for a PSO?

Was Newquay Heathrow profitable? - they moved it to Gatwick in favour of Dusseldorf, which was strange, considering Germany was loss making for Flybe according to RDC.

They can't be used for Newquay, I believe it is ABZ, EDI, NCE and a few other destinations

Moscow and Saudi . And after three consecutive seasons can be switched another EU point.

Mischievously and cleverly they can’t ever be used for anything else or sold on !

Whilst they; could add value to an existing airline portfolio the set number of slots must be identified and used as described period stop !

The can Virgin , beebop and any other entity use them for another ninety million JFK rotations- No .

Personally I am now waiting for Nordic to collect their I’ll gotten gains those mortgages will transfer quickly and I expect some frames to move across the office corridors toward the Stobart arena In the next few weeks and for Stobart to be the prime beneficiaries.

IMHO it certain Stobart will move in on the Belfast City market and one of either Manchester or Birmingham and attempt to pick up those remedial slots to form a reworked Virgin Connect entity pretty soon.

Pre- pack is all over this and 15 dashes is a solid number for those two potential bases imho.

COVID-19 the super strength common cold aside a think this was the plan anyway post April and it’s just come a few weeks earlier than planned .

Conjecture I know however somethings are certainly happening with the Receivers and interested parties.

FLYBE Shareholders were screwed over months ago anyway.

Has a former employee taken a copy of the customer database from their office before the airline's demise? I only ask as by coincidence Mrs ATN received an advertising mail in her inbox from Easyjet with whom she hasn't flown for more than 15 years. That is more than a coincidence; anyone else had the same?

If there has been a data breach, and the information commissioner found out, both EZY and the seller of the data could be in hot water.

Connect.

With a dozen frames with the right fare structure (£100 ) each flight you could create a significant domestic hub at Manchester. A domestic central hub for all of the UK with interline re Virgin.

Not sure they would be interested BHX.

Stobart are not going to lease anything from Nordic. Why would they? There fingers have beem burnt to the tune of 50 million quid already.
Another airline expanding to take on a lot of loss making former Flybe routes at great expense is fantasy

I'm not saying that Stobart will take on Q400s, but on the flip side, Connect has access to the financial data. Not all of Flybes routes would've been unprofitable. There are many factors as to why flybe as a whole wasn't profitable.

Stobart or any of the other regional Airlines could pick up the most popular routes and make them profitable without being laden with debt and expensive lease costs, and trying to please everyman and his laptop by providing too many frequencies and destroying yields.

Sure Connect had access to the fonancial data
That's why they went begging for a loan.
Connect doesn"y exist anymore
The owners are licking their wounds over a foolish investment

Don’t agree this was pretty much the plan .

Those aircraft meet exactly with Shobarts requirement and as we know the consortium balked at putting the funds in place .

It’s pretty standard pre pack many of those dashes were internally mortgaged back to the parent over the last few weeks so ownership may have already moved of off the Flybe books . Stobart are part of the parent company ownership structure and if the management company believed to be Nordic pick them up you want to believe they will be transferred over pretty quickly.

Interestedly its the numbers of frames involved as that is almost exactly what’s required for Belfast and one other mainland airport Edinburgh and Aberdeen - Heathrow.

Stobart had known about the imminent Collapse for some days as well.
They ensured their own assets were clear of the UK hours before closure.
Indeed the Belfast based Embrear was already heading to Dublin Before the last Flybe landed .

It’s also telling that the key Belfast routes are yet to be taken up and that the airport operators aren’t showing major distress yet .

Belfast City, Stobart, Nordic, Connect and the receivers are certainly working on a plan .

Partial collapses in business groups happen from time to time , indeed I have experienced it myself and its far from unheard of for key asset to be transferred to the parent company or other subsidiaries to take place weeks in advance of the closure.

Flybe has closed but the parent group probably hasn’t

If the rumours are true I just hope my prospective new employers don't expect us to wear kilts on duty!

Get the tartan paint out!
