I was watching Arsenal so a distraction was welcome - Flybe are far more interesting 
On a serious note, really can't complain about the aircraft utilisation although clearly any cancellations won't be down to lack of aircraft!!! I assume the 195 is on heavy maintenance and not hand-back?

I went to book my first Flybe tickets since the new website was introduced a few weeks ago. I find that I now have to complete the selection of the outbound flight before I can continue to the inbound flight options. Why is this? Surely it's more usual for both outbound and inbound options to appear when you start a search on airline booking websites as you may wish to juggle your outbound flight dates to take advantage of a cheaper return date.

with the value of the slots someone could be paid to fly an empty aircraft on them for a while !!! seriously though I would expect them to be traded on fairly quickly as EY don't need them
Flybe is far, far less punctual than its main rivals, including the road and rail alternatives against which it markets itself. Its cancellation rate is sky-high and its reputation for poor reliability is well-deserved. Even Flybe does not contest this. (Contrast bmi regional and its long-running marketing campaign based on being “on time, time and time again.” There’s more money in being late it seems...)
Ryanair has excellent punctuality and reliability, even with its recent operational SNAFUs.
Flybe is a last-resort carrier and the fact it has a monopoly in most places makes it even harder to understand how it has lost money.

It’s based on Flight Global award for most punctual U.K. airline, Which report and my own experience of 60 flights PER YEAR over the last 10 years.

Could someone explain what skills she has to be a competent airline CEO?
In a previous life I helped with a few techy problems Cityjet had with their comms. She got involved, and I could never understand why a CEO of a company would get involved with something like this, something so far down the foodchain.
Surely she had better things to do ?

How do they make money? I am travelling from Manchester to Knock at the end of the month and the round trip is just £50. I don't have the exact figure in front of me now but the outbound flight is about £33 and the return around £17! This compares extremely well with the hundreds of pounds a ferry trip via Dublin would cost.

Well there is a likely answer to your question but in 2019 you would not be allowed to say it. Suffice to say Connect will probably have their hands tied when it comes to reviewing her position (see my previous post for evidence). Perhaps we can look forward to her sacking more staff who question her, and implementing a 5th livery for their aircraft.......

Further to my post re Flybe fare to Knock, I have now downloaded and printed the ticket details etc.
It turns out the "Base Fare" is £6.00! The balance, £43.29, is made up of "Taxes & Fees".
And that £6.00 "Base Fare" is fare for a round trip, so £3.00 each way. I do understand the 'loss leader' concept but £3.00?

To be fair flybe and any airline won’t make money on advanced purchase hand baggage fares. The money on commuter routes will come from last minute sales along with add ons, baggage, onboard sales etc

According to the article below, Flybe announced that all its assets and operations had been transferred to Connect Airways back on the 21st February. I think Connect Airways will already have had a lot of input when it comes to the decision to dispose of the E-jets making a change in mind when it comes is very unlikely.
Flybe completes sale to Virgin-led consortium after dramatic last-minute challenger bid led by Mesa airlines | City A.M.
It will be interesting to see what changes are planned for the W19/20 schedule especially when it comes route and frequency changes.
I am surprised that there has been no announcement when it comes to the future of the franchise agreements with Blue Island and Eastern Airways.
