Could someone explain what skills she has to be a competent airline CEO?

In a previous life I helped with a few techy problems Cityjet had with their comms. She got involved, and I could never understand why a CEO of a company would get involved with something like this, something so far down the foodchain.
Surely she had better things to do ?

Ryanair has excellent punctuality and reliability, even with its recent operational SNAFUs.

Flybe is a last-resort carrier and the fact it has a monopoly in most places makes it even harder to understand how it has lost money.
guess you didn’t read the Which report

Or didn't know how to, or have the drive to do them, which might explain how they've ended up in the sorry state they are now.

As a reasonably regular Customer, with mostly good experiences, it saddens me to see them described as a "last resort carrier" as the hard-working/professional Customer-facing staff (ie, crews) don't deserve that.

How much weight do you attach to a Which? report these days? I'm not sure they are the organisation they used to be.

I put a lot more weight from a Which report than some reckless comments on here

Received an e mail from Flybe today, informing me that my account has been moved to the new platform.
Reading on about the changes, it states that customers will initially have reduced functionality, future bookings will not be visible and no payment cards can yet be stored...but hey, apart from that, i’m sure it all works beautifully!
Also tells me there’s a new app available, let’s hope it’s an improvement compared to the previous and that all of the above functionality’s are in working order within the app...

On a separate note, any news on whether they will keep their french regional routes to/from Manchester? I fly regularly to Toulouse for business and also commute to Bordeaux from there.
Only downside it, even with only hand luggage, you always have to check in at the airport desk on these routes at the French end...

Would it be feasible to book a flight with Flybe? Or would their flights be cancelled?

Grapefruit wasn't being rude, just stating that the question you are asking is impossible to answer. Flybe themselves probably couldn't answer it, their aircrew are said to be jumping ship so they probably don't know from day to day what services can be crewed and operated.

Why not contact Flybe direct, otherwise it's crystal ball time.

Yes, I would book a flight with them
Yes, I would aswell (although I have none scheduled at present).

Even on the worst day (that made the news) last week, only about 5% of flights across the network were cancelled.

I think people reading a bit too much into all of this, initially myself included. They had some restructure and some adjustment and have taken steps to ensure no more major issues hopefully. Most airlines have been through very similar. The airline was in trouble a lot of staff rightly so started looking elsewhere and virgin group have taken them over injecting a decent amount of cash to sort things out and potential rebranding in next couple months. However recruitment hasn't caught up on short fall. They are short of staff at Aberdeen isle of man Newquay and Belfast at present hence the issues. To say I'll never book flybe again is very short sighted, all businesses face issues from time to time and they seem to have put measures in place to stop a repeat. I do not currently work for flybe but I am applying for a position with them as an FO and don't anticipate any issues what so ever, if I am successful at interview I look forward to a long career with them.

A much happier day I would say - I am not saying that there weren't any cancellations but I couldn't find any just a few delays but I use FR24 and as most of the fleet are MLAT it is not totally reliable.

Out of 54 Dash 8's 10 were not operating at any one time, plus 1 E175 and 1 E195 but they did have one ATR flying for them as mentioned in an earlier post.

What was noticeable was out of the 44 Dash 8's flying 35 operated 7 or more sectors and some 10, which is definitely a ramp up in utilisation from when I last checked. The Cardiff 175's all did 8 sectors but one of the two Doncaster ones only 4 sectors.

There were 9 Dash 8's that did not operate at all and one that operated in the morning only and another in the afternoon only (EDI) and the 9 were at:

OA - EDI since 5th April
OH - MAN since 10th April
OJ - BHX since 9th April
CM - SOU since 10 April
CN - SOU since 2nd March and positioned to NQY today?
CX - EXT since 27 March
CY - EXT since 10 April
PE- - EXT since 9th April
PF - EXT since 2nd April

175

JJ - BHX since 1 April but listed tomorrow BHX-AMS

3 based CWL, 2 DSA, 3 MAN, 2 BHX (plus one possibly on the ground)

195

EJ - EXT since 27 Feb

2 based MAN, 1 BHX, 1 SOU & 1 EXT (1 I presume maintenance EXT)

As I say I can't vouch that this is 100% accurate but should be close.

Pete
