The route will be four times daily. Lots of articles mention that the service is following an agreement between LHR, The Government and Flybe. The local MP has lobbied hard for this and I assume LHR are happy to help as it boosts their argument that LHR expansion will mean better domestic connections. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-e...ost_type=share

According to twitter these are the timings:
BE801 NQY 0720-0830 LHR
BE803 NQY 1055-1205 LHR
BE805 NQY 1430-1540 LHR
BE807 NQY 1845-1955 LHR

BE802 LHR 0915-1025 NQY
BE804 LHR 1245-1355 NQY
BE806 LHR 1620-1730 NQY
BE808 LHR 2040-2150 NQY

I don't no why your guessing as it's already been mentioned to you that Flybe sold their slots to EasyJet four years ago.

The only remaining slots that Flybe hold at LGW are the slots for the three daily PSO route from Newquay.

The remedy slots that Flybe use at LHR are only for ABZ and EDI and are not theirs to sell until the airline has used them for three consecutive seasons.

Just do a search online for information regarding those LHR remedy slots because it's well documented and I don't know why you think that they could be used to alternative destinations with no competition because they can't do so.

For someone who uses the username of Airportplanner you should actually know this information without it having to be explained to you again and again after all these remedy slots have been mentioned many times and were previously used unsuccessfully by Virgin.
Theres no need to be rude, the reason I’ve asked is because I’ve seen different versions of what the remedy slot restrictions entail and now there is this news of a service to NQY appearing for which slots would have to come from somewhere.

You also trash your own dig at me about the LGW slots, I’m fully aware they were sold to EZY but as I understood the NQY slots were either new or withheld from the original package. Why would EZY sit on them for so long?

I've just read the Southend thread.

If true all I can say is that I find it unbelievable that we've been discussing the financial status of Flybe and now we get this.

If and when it's officially confirmed good luck to Flybe in not only gaining these slots at LHR and great for NQY in regaining a link again to LHR after many years since Brymon was flying the route plus it reinforces the R3 debate where LHR have publicly stated that domestic flights would be ring fenced.

Although in saying that this news has totally surprised me as I'm sure it has done with others.

The relevant bits in the Competition Remedy for BA/bmi state:

The number of slots to be made available would enable prospective entrant(s) to operate up to a total of seven frequencies per day on the Identified UK City Pairs and up to a total of five frequencies per day on any Identified City Pair.

Where a prospective entrant would have operated on one or more Identified City Pairs with the released slots for at least two consecutive IATA seasons, it would be entitled to apply for any slots still available in the quota for the Identified City Pairs to operate frequencies on any European short-haul city pair provided that it also continues to operate the frequencies it is operating on the Identified City Pairs.

So there are 12 sets of Heathrow remedy slots. If you fly the Edinburgh and Aberdeen routes then you can apply for any remaining remedy slots unused to operate them on any European route of your choice. That's where the Newquay slots are coming from. They cannot move slots from Edinburgh or Aberdeen (under separate provisions) until March 2020.

I'd be waiting for a sale of Gatwick slots to be announced.

Are these perhaps IAG slots and do they pre-empt an association or sale of Flybe to IAG?

Would not say the government has come to their aid at all. There are not putting any money into the airline. Just yesterday they remortgaged a Dash to a German Bank for 5 million pounds to help their cash flow to help them get through the winter. Cannot keep selling the family silver.

It is a PSO route so in that respect of course it is supported by the Government, The Government can barely support itself at the moment and I suspect this is ministerial speak to gain a few brownie points.

I admire your optimism Brigantee!

Yes. I think Flybe will find this is as close to help as it will get from the Gov.

There's a difference between Flybe surviving and Flybe surviving because the Government intervenes and saves them. Given other companies and industries which have gone under - like Monarch, I doubt the Gov is going to intervene and help Flybe and so far have seen nothing to say otherwise.

Being projected that each passenger round trip NQY/LHR/NQY will cost the UK taxpayer £10.

SEN are still hoping for their own service from NQY,if it now happens why is it expected to be self supporting & cash generating when ops into one of the World`s premier airports evidently is not.

Many regional airports around the UK are looking askance at this BEE/LHR/CG cobble up after their own services have been withdrawn or reduced.

BEE & CG & to a lessor extent LHR are all at sea...

You're comparing apples and oranges - Southend doesn't have the worldwide connections that LHR has, and it is that access that is being paid for by the PSO. If other regional airlines are looking askance, it's because they haven't done as good a job as NQY and Cornwall Council

How would moving 1 route save them? Surely this is just peanuts in terms the whole operation?

Whatever happened to poetic license?...Yes I do actually comprehend all the fundamentals involved but use license to draw attention to the two main parties involved both BEE & CG who do not inspire confidence & who both have clarity of vision deficit.
Tory seats in the West Country anyone with possible elections threatening.

It's no different than Inverness not having APD on it's flights. Cornwall isn't easy to get to and the PSO is an investment in the area.
