Sky twiiter says EY people travelling to regional airports now!

Mark Kleinman
@MarkKleinmanSky
Revealed: I’m told staff from EY, the accountancy firm, are travelling to regional airports across the UK in preparation for Flybe falling into administration in the coming hours. As I reported earlier, there was little prospect of the company surviving until next week’s Budget.

As far as I can tell 21:00 is the last scheduled departure (BHX-GLA) which could be the significance of that time. Hoping for the best though for all concerned.

So if FlyBe do end up in administration, what potentially happens next? Is the aim to rescue the good bits or simply sell whatever assets are left and the name disappears. I have used FlyBe over the years from my local Belfast airport and the flights have been busy, it just seems a shame that this local asset could be destroyed over incompetent management.

I sincerely hope it doesn't happen, the stress and worry of losing jobs is horrendous and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Could be a flyBMI-style administration. Put it into administration, transfer the assets to another company, trim the fat, take the good routes and bases, throw out the bad ones, and in a few days offer the ex-employees new jobs.

Any ideas why BE852 BHX>EDI has turned around en route and seems to be heading for MAN?

Reports that fuelers at EDI have been told not to refuel flybe aircraft. Probably going to MAN to fill the tanks to the max!

There are contractors leaving #Flybe tonight with all their tools, wheeling them out on airport trollies - “We don’t know if we’ll be able to get back in tomorrow”, one tells me

The engineer shift change is at 19:00. So he should of seen the night shift arrive just before.

Someone has tweeted on the diverted flight to say they were told Flybe had gone bust mid flight hence the diversion.

So maybe a GLA thing (no fuel) as things elsewhere appear business as usual? I have not found any flight cancellations other than flights going to/from GLA.
