There is surely some significance in the fact that it is FlyBe facing administration and not Connect Airways.

Sky reports that APD running to millions is owing and they want it deferred.
Why would the Government allow FlyBE to "defer" APD when other regional and international airlines must pay it on time.
It seems like that is like any other business withholding VAT or social security payments.
This was done intentionally by someone high in management in the Company.
That is reckless trading and they should be shut down.

Because I glean from an employee (Brigantee) that he/she didn't mean that the rumour around BHX is easyjet are interested in BHX but more that the rumour around the Flybe BHX base is that easyjet are interested in Flybe, hence my post, not that I need to justify my post to you but there we are.

I do believe easyjet had a base at Manchester before Jet2 showed up so it's in their best interest to protect their turf. If you read the easyjet mission statement in their annual reports you'll see that they want to be the number 1 or number 2 airline in any operating base and I think they rather missed the boat when monarch disappeared, most likely to do with establishing their TXL base and running that into profitability being a priority.

Is that right? EZY were late into MAN, being well established at LPL.

EZY have a presence at every Jet2 base except EMA and LBA

Interesting article, hinting that help might be forthcoming.

State help for Flybe maybe, but don't give its owners a free ride

Because it offers connectivity like no other airline.
Because have you seen Cross Country train prices?
If deferring (not writing off) payment saves 2000 jobs, then it would be prudent to do this.
However, I am surprised at the lack of noise from Stobart and Virgin who only a few months ago launched their Virgin Connect website and waxed lyrical about the journey. Odd, odd, odd.

Angry

The APD is collected from the passenger by the airline on behalf of the government. It is not FlyBe's money to hold onto.

2000+ jobs potentially to be lost.

The Secretary of State liable to pay the 'protective award' for each person. Usually amounting to 90days salary, for lack of a notice period. About £15m by my rough calculations.

It might make sense to help defer APD, and assist Flybe.

Still a risk of a further double whammy down the line, however. Whilst the winter months are quieter, I didn’t think Flybe would be affected as much as most.

The management are playing games IMO. There is still going to be an airline at the end of it and this is going to be similar to the Loganair/BMI situation.

Max 8 weeks for insolvency cases (subject to success at industrial tribuneral) and capped at £525 per week, less tax and NI.
Best outcome for the staff is definitely some sort of rescue package. Fingers crossed for all involved.

Flybe and it's debts into administration.
Virgin and it's branded Connect run by Stobart, both financed by Cyrus rise like a phoenix from the ashes.
Just like the demise of BMI Regional and subsequent takeover of routes and aircraft leases by Loganair.
Virgin and Stobart are full of PR spin but need to put in the millions they promised.
Taxpayers shouldn't bail out such underhand and devious financial manipulation by well paid bosses.

Is it possible to do a pre-pack administration without forfeiting the AOC?

G-JECX (DUS Based) is operating as normal with a 35 minute departure delay being on the ground for 2HRS - would they have sent this aircraft out of UK to DUS if they were to cease?
G-PRPC (EMA Based) was diverted to BHX and has since re-positioned back to EMA to be in position for tomorrow's AMS.

I am aware of delays mainly to BHD aircraft due to weather which has affected other airlines.
