Thomas Cook-2
Grahamy, thank you for your reply. There are all kinds of cost's being given to repatriate travellers, then there is the unknown cost of refunds. Would there be sufficient money in the ATOL pot to cover all of this or would indeed the government have to dig in to tax payers pockets?
I believe I read something about the government needing to loan ATOL c. £400 million. If true then presumably there's a distinct possibility that the rate per passenger may go up to repay this along with flight only international travellers also having to be paid for since that's now twice that flight only passengers have been repatriated.
It is possible that the borrowing is for cash flow purposes as doubt ATOL would have £400 million just sitting in bank doing nothing.

Avion Express
One would imagine Avion Express will feel the effect of the Thomas Cook collapse in view of the A320s & A321s which are in TCX colours and have been flying for them for a while.

Numbers seem a bit high. Hiring in aircraft to bring people home will be expensive but wondering how cost could be so much. At this stage half or more of those due to be transported home likely to be here or on their way.

No doubt there will be a sneaky attempt to increase this tax but if it does what it says and pays out every couple of years then no reason to tax people more.

Smartlynx will position an a321 YL-LCQ to MAN on either Wednesday afternoon / evening or Thursday early morning in order to start its lease with the first flight being an additional flight to PMI. LS have leased them in for 1month (for now) for additional uplift as well as the Evelop a330-300 EC-MII which holds 388pax.

Why did BACF do a TCX Santorini-GLA repat flight? I didn't think they originally operated that route. Was it for MAN/NCL pax? BACF often have a lot of extra aircraft and downtime at GLA
