Makes sense that Malaysian and Qatar have got spare aircraft available for charter.
Anyone know what sort of spare capacity BA and EasyJet will have in terms of charter?

I’m not speculating anything but has anyone any idea what the 3 x 763 Eastern aircraft are doing in Shannon other than rescue flights for Thomas Cook. 2 one the ground and 1 en route as we speak, all 3 from Miami.

Most likely the CAA getting ready in case the negotiations fail. They did the same in 2016 when Monarch’s ATOL renewal was pushed to the line. It was slightly worrying to land in Palma de Mallorca to be greeted by a United B747 in case the ATOL license wasn’t renewed.
fortunately in 2016 all the aircraft flew back without having been put into action, at a great cost to the CAA. Lets hope that the same happens again this time round!

I’ve been in Shannon before when 767s have called in enroute to the Middle East carrying US troops.

From Airlines . Net
The UK Civil Aviation Authority is on high alert to rescue Thomas Cook customers if the tour operator cannot be saved from collapse within 24 hours.
The CAA has held detailed conversations with a group of five airlines to rescue passengers, which includes:
I don’t see how this is going to help other than fill spare seats on existing flights.

HiFly have been operating an ex-Singapore A380 for a while now, complete with former SQ interior. I don’t believe Singapore Airlines want their cabin back. A few of their ex planes fly with these sort of airlines with the old cabins.

Doc Q, why do you have to resort to insults? The only one calling other posters a moron or pr*ck is you. It fair enough that you don’t agree with their opinion but does it really warrant calling people names on an anonymous forum?
If you really want to be such a ‘Big Boy’ then call people morons or pr*cks whilst posting under your real name!

At the end of day the CAA can organise as many aircraft as they wish to be on standby it’s not going to influence the outcome of the talks today and only means the CAA are prepared for the worse IF it occurs

There is no need for name calling and arguing, an opinion is an opinion and we all have them, if you don’t like someone’s opinion don’t forget they are entitled to have one.
what we all need to remember, emotions are high and for good reason but nothing said, true or not on this site will change the outcome of this situation.
also worth say, our friendly plane enthusiast have more information than us in the business sometimes, so let’s all calm down a bit and have some self respect and be respectful to others.

What is actually owned, airframe wise by Thomas Cook?
Could a quick fire sale of some metal not save the day ?
