Does anybody know who the new double jet bridge is for? Presumably it’s for EK’s A380s, but I was wandering if anyone has heard anything different.

Over 53% of Stansted’s passengers use the transport network to and from Stansted and if some can do more to help the environment then that’s brilliant.
Of course if you live locally to Stansted you can apply for the discount card (free). That reduces the charge to 50p if you live within 5 miles or £1 if you are in the 5 to 10 mile range.

It is being built predominantly for Emirates use. But it will be available for any other airlines that’s need to use it for its own operation as well.
Also it’s not built for the A380. It’s being built to be able to better offload First/Business class passengers from aircraft. I don’t think we will see regular A380 service for a while at Stansted, mainly on special occasions and diverts really.

According to routes online Air India will move the BOM service to LHR in S20. The Amritsar flights look to be open for reservation up until the start of W20/21 season, however the rest of their network is open until S21 so it’s not looking good for the ATQ route either. I hope AI do stay at STN they seem to be popular and their fares to ATQ aren’t cheap!

Some good news, SAS will add seasonal flights to Lulea for next winter, flights will operate Monday and Fridays onboard an A320 Neo. Flights start 18th December.

Emirates

Any information re emirates? Will we see an A380 service. Are they likely to upgrade to 3 rotations a day from STN.
Do they uplift much freight?

We will see a third flight announced at some stage this year. I doubt we will be seeing regular A380 services at Stansted. Yes all flights I’ve seen loaded/offloaded have had a good load of freight in and out.

Sad to see the BOM route leave for LHR, given that it has only been in operation for less than a month, although I can't say it was an unexpected move either. I just hope that AI will remain at STN with the ATQ service at least, and hopefully expand their presence here- wasn't there talk of AI wanting to open up a London-Goa route in place of Jet Airways at one point?

Also, on the subject of new airlines at STN- now that AtlasGlobal have ceased trading, what are the chances of TK mainline stepping in and taking over the STN-IST route? I would've thought such a move would make sense strategically, given the vast number of connections available through IST as opposed to SAW.

I have just looked today at AI flights from STN to ATQ, it is now open for reservation in W21.

STN is to lose Emirates altogether until July, as does LGW. LHR down to 2x daily. Not a great surprise sadly.

LGW EDI NCL STN flights by Emirates are being suspended, preliminary from 25 March to 30 June 2020.

BHD, GLA, MAN will reduce to a daily service, preliminary to 30 June 2020.

LHR will be reduced to two daily flights, preliminary to 30 June 2020.

All flights will be operated by B777.

As much as BHD would love EK there I can't quite see a 77W at BHD. BHX will drop to daily, not BHD.

That was me typing quick and my spell check on my tablet immediately added BHD instead of BHX. I had just been using the BHD code on a previous post on another thread and it instantly replaced BHX with BHD.

I always check any posts, texts, emails before sending, this was obviously not the case on this occasion!

To sum it up, it was an obvious typo as I'm sure you realised that before replying 🤗

From experience, I know how embarrassing predictive text can be, Last year I booked an Airbnb in Lanzarote from an elderly couple, I thought I wrote, I’m looking forward to some sun, unfortunately 30 minutes later, when I checked my phone, I seen I had sent, I’m looking forward to a foursome 😬.

But more to the point did they agree to it 😉

In my experience predictive text often works when the word has previously been used, your not accidentally giving away some personal secrets here are you daz 😂

Is any building work still going on at STN despite the virus? Surely there is a big opportunity for carrying out work with far less disruption.

Is building work essential ? Would you really want to be on a building site right now, in the knowledge that keeping 2m away from everyone else is almost impossible ?

Unhappy Laid Off

All Colleague Update - 1st April
Dear colleagues

Today a number of you will have been told that you will be furloughed for the next 3-8 weeks. You are all still very much part of our Stansted family and will receive % of your pay during this period, but will need to follow the guidance below to ensure we can guarantee support from the Government.

Whilst you may not be donning your pass every day and coming into work, we hope you will continue to be advocates for London Stansted. By agreeing to be furloughed you are helping to ensure that Stansted will come out of this crisis in the best possible position, which will benefit us all over the longer term.

The below will apply to all furloughed workers across MAG:

Action 1 – You must not work

Once your furlough period has begun you must not work at all, not even for an hour. This includes responding to emails, making phone calls, staying in touch with third party stakeholders or visiting the airport for any reason.

Most works have stopped for the reasons DJ6 suggested. It’s all about reducing cash burn right now.
Some work has continued either because it is a license requirement or because the work is nearly complete.
I believe the spring runway works will now take place on days rather than weekend nights because there is less going on during the day right now.

Anybody got any update of the current cargo flights, how many extra? What were the BA flights today from Doha?
