FedEx New Flight

FedEx have started a new flight/route to Stansted this week. It’s operating with a B767. Not sure on which days it’s operating currently but is likely to be similar to the current flights days.

At the end of October every year, a number of routes are cut by Ryanair so as to maintain strong profitability across their network
It looks like Ryanair have not yet finished loading summer 2020 flights, but the following routes from Stansted currently have nothing on sale after Ocober (or early November) 2019 and thus might be deemed at risk of being cut by Ryanair from Stansted. I very much doubt all of these routes will by cut by Ryanair from Stansted next month, but I imagine some of them will be

Alghero, Clermont-Ferrand, Kalamata, Rijeka, Rimini, Rodez, Weeze, Zadar

Were they not all seasonal anyway?

I would be surprised if Alghero and Zadar went. Kalamata was new for 2019 and only one weekly. The rest of them have come and gone more than once with a couple also served from LTN. With continued Brexit uncertainty surely affecting demand and bookings for 2020 across the board, coupled of course with Max issues, I think a lot of these routes will be culled from STN.

Sorry its in french ! about the FNI-STN and LTN routes ! Spokeman said both routes are seasonal since last year (maybe more) due to low demand during the winter season compared to others routes in the big area such as CCF-STN / or MrS -STN !

Ural Airlines

Ural Airlines had planned to start 4x weekly flight from ZIA to STN however reservation for this flight still is not available, Routesonline reported the airline was planning to launch flights at the start w19/20 season. I haven’t heard anymore of this route since. Don’t know if anyone has heard anything about what’s going on?

Didn’t one of their airframes come down in a field not so long ago maybe they don’t have enough aircraft to operate Stansted.

Yeah Routes Online has it loaded again, but still not available for bookings currently.

Hello everyone! New to PPRUNE but have followed the progress of this thread and STN's developments for a few years now. On my recent visit to STN, I noticed that a number of BA cityflyer flights that day (21st Sep) were using gates (81 and 32) on SAT 2. Is this normal, as I was under the impression that SAT is mostly used by FR, EZY and LS? Also, regarding the airport's current transformation programme, are there any plans to update/refurbish satellites 2 and 3? As both are looking a bit long in the tooth compared to SAT 1 and can't see any mention of this on MAGs website? Many thanks!

Welcome to PPrune,
BACF flights have used both SAT1 and SAT2 in the summer season. Yes EZY and RYR are the main operators from SAT2 with all the domestic flights and operators using it to. LS haven’t used SAT2 in this summer season.

Their are plans to full update SAT2 and 3 in the ‘Stansted Transformation Project’ but because of local government issues some plans have been put on hold for now. Hopefully when this is resolved plans will start to role again and construction works will begin.

This is an improvement over much of STN’s service to BACF over the summer. The agreement was for contact stands however many times aircraft were allocated remote stands, leading to long waits for buses and stairs for passengers, and huge problems for crew as no crew transport contract was in place. High level meetings had to be held between the airline, STN and Swissport to sort things out. Typical MAG!

Many thanks STN406. I didn't realise that BA had been using stands on SAT 2 during summer seasons. Very pleasing to see that current plans include a full refurb of SAT 2 and 3- I'd flown to PSR from SAT 2 back in July, and it looked as if the place hasn't been touched since the early days of the BAA venture, with jet bridges darkened, light fittings on the jetways missing/not working, lack of passenger amenities (e.g. airline lounges) except a small WH Smith/Express Weatherspoons. I've also found it odd that there aren't other airlines making use of SAT 2 (e.g. jet bridges, I haven't seen these used for years now). So definitely welcome the news that these areas will finally be updated, given that it is MAGs ambition to make STN the 'London airport of choice'. Are there any links to the STN transformation project detailing these plans? (sorry for all the questions!)

Interesting.

Wonder how they are being crewed? From what I understand with MT it was SmartLynx pilots and MT cabin crews. Now the crews are unemployed I guess SmartLynx are using their own cabin crew?

What I I don’t understand is why ZT codes are being used? Unless Titan are subcontracting the work out to SnartLynx as I can’t imagine they have enough flex in their own fleet to manage all the extra work from the CAA/MT?

Very complex.

I'm led to believe by ex Thomas Cook cabin crew who have either been taken on on temporary contracts by Titan Airways or are doing it as volunteers.
