Compared with an earlier edition of TCX short haul Summer`19 for STN the programme is now showing a healthy similar comparison to Summer`18.

Peak Summer`19 is now 34 departures pw over 15 destinations.

The 2nd Smart Lynx lease in for STN commenced 25.5 last year with the A320.

Definitely the 2nd a/c required but early days yet with source perhaps but very likely Smart Lynx would be assumed.

Since the TCX winter break at STN their radio callsign has changed to "Thomas Cook" from "Kestrel".

UPS Flights

Looks like UPS have added an extra flight to Stansted. Comes in from CGN via CDG as UPS218. Unsure if this is a temporary or permanent flight to their schedule. But a nice addition to the cargo volume levels anyway. with this flight it means we currently have three UPS aircraft day stopping x1 B757 and x2 B767’s. The B757 does position out to WAW at 1630.

The UPS B757 has operated for at least three seasons though but during the winter schedule the timings differ completely with the a/c departing to WAW in the early hours.

As you point out the a/c day stops with the summer schedules. Why the wide variation between summer & winter cargo who can say.Nice to see even so.

EZY has commenced STN/CDG Days1.4.5.7 with 31,000 customers predicted thru to end of Summer.

Weatherspoon`s opened their brand new £1.3m/3,650 sq m "Runway Bar" today on a new mezzanine level with seating for 200 customers.

As the name implies the new Bar has a 30m long window with views over airfield ops.

Weatherspoon`s say the existing Windmill Pub already serves 1.2m customers per year.

Stansted is at the present time now just 180,754 pax behind MAN in respect of the rolling 12 month totals.

MAN in previous Summer seasons has been the busier so time will tell.

Concur with Long Haul...The B word will not be helping.

Long Haul positive...

Due consideration must be given to the fact that STN of course operates the largest long haul all cargo network in the UK.

Delighted STN is about to top Man however this is only happening because MAN is artificially constrained due stand capacity. RYR would have put 5 units into MAN this year but for whatever reason they were deployed elsewhere. A big miss..

JetBlue to London in 2021...

It is obvious that MAG will have pitched extremely well to JBU regarding STN & that they can be perfect partners over BOS/JFK.

JBU have used the cleverest strategy gaming not only the LON airports but their rival airlines & the airframer to boot & enhanced their own market value.

Case then of wait & see.

If the pitch was so great, I would imagine jetBlue have already selected STN and would have announced it yesterday. Really this just feels like an announcement to appease the investors and show that jetBlue is 'growing' and 'maturing' their model. It's nothing new or exciting and far from guaranteed to make money. I don't think jetBlue have 'gamed' anyone, Delta have already announced JFK and BOS to LGW and have strong brands at both ends of the routes, with DL in the US and Virgin in the UK. Virgin have a strong following in the holidays market and a number of showcase high-street stores. They seem well-placed to market the route.
By giving competitors such a long warning time, I think jetBlue have decreased their chances of success. For example, AA already have A321neos on-property and a fleet of A321ceo in a premium layout. Whats to stop them reconfiguring and launching JFK-STN on the A321neo in time for summer 2020? They've pulled this trick before. The A321neo at Primera didn't end well, but for the purposes of keeping jetBlue out of Europe, AA/BA might find the 'investment' worth while.
