STN proposing to launch this year a radical offer to manage pax & baggage transfer at STN effectively removing all the associated burden from the airlines themselves in an extra development to help secure long-haul services.

Would this be similar to Airports in the States where you can offload your luggage at car drop off outside the terminal?
Would be very radical for the UK!

This concerns transfer of pax & baggage from short haul to long haul ie interlining but with no burden/risk to the airlines themselves but all taken on by STN itself.

STN will provide software that will communicate between the two respective airlines booking systems so it can track where the baggage is due to go.

Bags to be treated as though the carriers have an interline agreement moving them from one a/c to another eliminating the need for multiple check-in as per...

Is this MAG's version of what LGW are already doing. If so I would suspect you might see it pop-up at MAN once T2x/T2 baggage hall are completed.

From what I’ve heard their will soon be a small transfer area built. I’ve heard it will be limited to only a few Airlines to begin with and will he used to see how the airport will be able to have a full transfer area when the new arrivals building is operational.

Also Jet2 are now offering passengers the ability to check in the night before their flight. ‘Twilight Check-In’ will be open from 16:00-20:00 every evening and will give passengers staying overnight or living in the local area the chance to check-in the night before and then go straight through to departures when they come back in the morning.

Could be true, but there is nothing in the plans of the new arrivals building that includes a transfer area.

A transfer area was being planned 2-3 years ago but all went quiet.

I assume a 'transfer' facility would need to be little more than a set of stairs/escalators/lifts to the new security area from the international arrivals hall. Its little more than that at T5 at Heathrow. At Heathrow they have separated out connecting passengers for domestic arrivals, immigration and security checks, but there is no necessity to do that.

On at least 2 occasions this week a WizzUK A321 has positioned LTN-STN-LTN,each time spending some hours at STN.

Being worked on or lack of utilization & therefore parking spots at LTN?

There has been space allocated within the new arrivals building for a potential transfer area. Nothing confirmed whether this will be built in straight away or at a later date.
Also their has been space allocated in the transformation plans to expand the current security area and the new one if and when it maybe required.

Hey there STN fans...

Any suggestions for parking at the airport for the day, when just going on a day trip somewhere and only need 18 hours parking? Went to the STN website and jaw nearly dropped when they say the cheapest parking for a day is £35, and that's in a car park 10-15 mins bus ride away from the terminal, and not a car park within walking distance of the terminal!

They also have the audacity to say this is the cheapest guaranteed price you'll get!

Maybe I am spoilt being a regular LTN user, and parking my car at Parkway Station for £2.50 at the weekend per day, and then the £2-3 return bus fare up to the terminal.

Agree, the charge for one day is extortionate. I was quoted £42 two weeks ahead which is more than I paid for a long weekend and I only need it for ten hours. Perhaps the theory is only business travellers go for the day during the week and they’ll just pay up. Public transport is only just less convenient for me so I’ll stick to that.

Not a local, but what about parking in Bishops Stortford and getting a bus in. Can't be £35, but could take a while.

It’s a great addition to EZY’s route portfolio, be great if it’s a success and we see an increase in frequency in the future.
