As far as pier served stands are concerned, Stands 11 and 13 will take the A380 in terms of size however FEGP and air bridge support is not up to the standard that airlines would want for regular services. These issues could be resolved of course.
The other issue is taxiway network. There is only one route from the Alpha cull de sac to the 22 runway (via Taxiway H)
whilst you could get there via Taxiway J, it would require the stands on the end of Sat 1 and potentially Sat 2 to be restricted or free when Taxiway H was not available which would put considerable strain on operations. This is the main reason why regular A380 operations are not currently available

How did we get 431 on a 428 seater?
All the same great numbers, Emirates once again proving they’re quite exceptional ability to connect the UK with the world going East.

You gotta wonder what the mature market for London-Dubai on EK actually is?
LHR 6 x A380 class
LGW 3 x A380 mixed 2/3 class
STN 1 x B77W 3 class

Total pax figures probably include infants on laps
428 + 3 = 431

Yes perfectly correct of course...but go on give it a try how about credit for the partner airport STN as well !

Portrays brilliant loadings through the cabin with the reference to mostly full belly uplift too.

The LON -DXB market has changed somewhat in the last year especially since Qantas shifted their a380 flights away from Dubai and Royal Brunei did the same with the 787, there are actually less seats than previously were available. This will reduce further when Virgin Atlantic stop flying the route in the near future.

A change to seats available, but how many PAX were being carried by those dropping out of the market?

New Stansted redevelopment video available on social media and YouTube I seen it on Twitter, it’s a walk through video with a lot more detail that has not been seen before.

All I can say is WOW !
the video is amazing, I didn’t think the Airport would change so dramatically, I very much approve.

sorry didn’t know how to add a link, It can be seen on MAG Stansted media website.

Looks great. It looks like security will be repositioned on the upper level of the arrivals building, as “east security”. It’s not 100% clear from the video, as this might just be “premium” security, as is mentioned at one point. Either way it looks like an improvement. It appears the current baggage hall will become more walk-through duty free. I don’t think it makes much difference to the distances walked. Currently train passengers walk lost of the length of the terminal, just past check-in as opposed to through shops in the new layout.

This layout would also appear to allow minimal disruption during construction. The arrivals terminal and east security can be opened before further reconfiguration of the current arrivals and check-in areas.

Agreed...have been viewing the fly-thru video this morning, pretty wonderous & will be as it says on the tin...a transformation.

The terminal now appears to be partly on two levels, certainly there will be a new additional security check area in the to be transformed Departures Terminal named East Security & will be accessed via escalators.

Domestic Arrivals appears to exit into the new Arrivals Plaza alongside International Arrivals in the video too.

No sign of a SAT 4 alongside the extra remote a/c parking yet tho.

Does the Sat2 link mean that that the train will no longer call there and that passengers will walk to it? Thats a new development I wasn't aware of.

Not sure if it’s been noted or mentioned before, I notice in the video that the car park next to the coach station is also shown as a multi-storey I was under the impression the only multi-storey was going up next to the Radison Blu, or am I confusing things.

The Mirror refers to the new Terminal as "swanky" & "swish"...

Reference East Security upstairs this appears to be totally extra security area which will be available & in addition to the existing security area which will certainly be re-named West Security as if the fly-thru video is freeze framed at 1.22 there is a yellow departures information column with "How busy is security"? indicator for East & West.Yes there is a Premium security gate at East but along with a normal entrance.

Interestingly too in the new Arrivals Terminal from immigration it is a descent via escalator to baggage reclaim/customs & Arrivals Plaza.

Gone will be the days of the original concept & design of a one level STN.

Re the multi storey car park to the East of the coach station in front of the Terminal...well spotted...

It is tagged as the "Orange Car Parking" in the fly-round & highlighted as such so it is an obvious development then.It spans the large expanse of existing ground level parking & appears to be a 3 level construction.

STN back in the day had plans & probably approval to construct multi level car parking opposite the Terminal.

Noted too on the video there is a very large "meet & greet" car park highlighted down in the South West area of the Airport.

OK, well done to the management team at both MAG and STN for what appears to be a growing partnership with Emirates, who continue to succeed in markets where others just can’t. (Etihad at EDI for example).
My only caveat is that by being such an exceptional carrier, this has already raised expectations of the second daily flight, regular A380s and inbound Chinese flights. In terms of growth, EK had announced a 4th daily Gatwick which may or may not happen before a 2nd STN.

Jolly good S.O.F...

…& just for clarification no one here is expecting regular A380 ops & expectations for a future Chinese service has it`s own reality & backstory.

Stansted stats for December`18...

Another record breaking set...

A record December with 2,019,325 passengers + 10.3%.

A record rolling 12 months breaking the 28m figure for the first time with 28.0m + 8.2%.

The second month in a row the figures pip MAN & becomes the largest airport in the group again in December.

Well done STN. I remember back in the 1980s when AirUK began building it's ops at STN, the pax throughput exceeded 500,000 for the first time. We thought the 3rd London airport had arrived then. Onwards and upwards!

Excellent figures helped no doubt with the 'problems' at Gatwick. I hate to drone on - sorry!
