can anyone on the ground or in the know confirm this ?
if it’s not true this could be very damaging to primera
this info seems to have been confirmed by USERNAME, (an employee) in the premier thread
From crewing, airline no longer exists.

Second redundancy in as many years.

Heartbroken.

Sadly they have just announced a delay on the EWR flight in the terminal, "Next info 60 minutes" but I think thats the end and they are just working out the details before they tell the passengers. sad but Inevitable after the delays in the aircraft delivery and the required sub chartering. Its always sad for the staff when this happens its never their fault and they are the ones left high and dry.

Well that wasn't obvious. Sorry to all the employees, especially those who are finding themselves in the exact same situation as this very day last year. Management of this sham are a disgrace.

It’s a year to the day that Monarch went bust.

October appears to be a dark month in aviation.

Hope all their staff secure new employment ASAP.

Thats a bit harsh on the management, they tried something new and it didn’t quite work out. With a bit more luck ie aircraft delivered on time and not having to pay out a fortune in compensation perhaps they would have got through the winter. Perhaps they tried too much too soon this season, but if they’d waited a year or two perhaps the opportunity would have gone.

Poor decisons and some poor planning made this quite likely, let’s not blame luck.
Good luck to all concerned.

Airport Planner1: It was bleeding obvious to most in the industry it was never going to work. As others pointed out in the Primera thread but were shot down. Yet again it's the crews who lose out due to mismanagement and incompetence. Primera were a great little airline doing what they did in Scandinavia, there was no need for this misadventure except pure greed.

Crewmeal: There probably won't be - it wasn't a UK airline so no CAA repatriation flights this time.

No repatriation flights, no - but due to their size there is enough capasity in the market for people to come home - especially on routes like New York or Boston.

And here is the paradox...if they hadn’t gone on this misadventure the jobs wouldn’t have existed in the first place. It was bold, it was ambitious, and it might just have worked - while I sincerely feel for those just made unemployed, surely most would have known they were taking a chance.

I have to to admit I didn’t think Primera would have longevity, but my feeling was it was being primed for a takeover or being sold on. Certainly there were rumours of a JetBlue tie-up which was one of my theories...if that was true perhaps talks collapsed which triggered these events

Which probably leaves the door wide open for Jet Blue to pick up the business.

Putting aside the sad news.
passenger figures were good and proves Transatlantic can work from Stansted.
what we need now is a well known airline to come in and operate at least the Newyork route.

I don’t think there was ever any doubt TA could work from STN...but unless Jet2 go into the market (unlikely), or TC replicate what they’ve done at MAN (unlikely), or JetBlue come over (vaguely possible) there will not be a NYC route because the established players will not dilute LHR unless they have to. Even LGW didn’t have a NY route until Norwegian came along.

Passenger figures will always be good if the price is right, doesn't necessarily mean it will be profitable to operate.
With oil prices rising again, it may be a while before somebody steps in.
No reason why STN can't attract an established Airline offering all classes of travel but low cost at the moment is dubious in my opinion .Should imagine Ryanair, Easy have all considered it and backed off!

Sad to see any Airline fail though , especially as many good people went there from MON.
Wish them all luck

Sadly, it further proves TA from STN is a risk. We have seen many attempts yet the end result is always this. Such a positive summer ends with a sceptical future once again for STN.

Might be interesting to see if WOW Air review plans to suspend STN during the winter period.

TA From STN

TA from STN has worked with AA and CO having good loads but retiring the routes AA to join the BA monopoly policy from LHR first time round when they flew ORD from STN then CO EWR after 9/11 then AA again said to be banking crisis second time at STN with JFK which was going to double daily. Now Primera also having good loads, yes probably trying too much too quick, really feel for all staff especially those in Scandinavia,Airbus must feel really proud as well, good luck to all with future employment.

Gutted that today we lose Primera from our sky’s. Not a legacy airline but a good airline running for quite a few years out of Scandinavia. As much as this is a big, big loss from Stansted, I feel for the workers in Scandinavia just as much as. I hope all the wokers find new airlines or jobs soon.
As has been stated it will probably be a while for Stansted to get another airline flying towards the USA and Canada. Hopefully Primera proved their is some demand and someone will fill the gap sooner rather that later.

Very sad especially for the staff, but it has been a slow motion train crash for sometime. Special subject ' the bleedin' obvious'.

Quite the contrary, Stansted just can’t support the price points to make enough money. Primera led on price, price, price and went bust as a result. If yields were decent, Continental wouldn’t have left, and American would have given it a third go. Stansted was and remains a loco airport with the exception of Emirates, to whom the usual rules don’t apply due to an overwhelming critical mass of connections. Aside from Jet2, I can’t see any established airline launching New York. If Jetblue decide to enter the London market, surely to goodness it will be Gatters. Loads are ALWAYS good if you sell at “too good to be true” prices. All Primera have done is shown once again why STN doesn’t do well in this market.
