BAA and later MAG have utterly destroyed the Stansted experience. The concept of kerb to plane for which the terminal was built has now reached a nadir of the worst procession through the most shops of any UK airport. To be clear, no airport I have been in takes you through such a tortuous route before you sight an aircraft.
There’s just no room! The restaurants were queued out blocking people trying to run for flights.
The rest of the airport is fine, Sat 1 and 2 have decent seating and views but with no return to terminal option without a help phone, most people are trapped in the terminal. At least at LHR, frequent fliers can get out to the satellites in good time and back if required. Such a shame as STN started out with amazing potential but it’s a zoo at the moment.

By the way, bit stange that all new bases are on sale for next summer but not STN (neither CDG).
Do we know if Primera currently block seats on the 321Neo ? Quite a long way to EWR isnt it.

I should have added congratulations in my previous post to all airport partners/workforce & MAG themselves for producing such healthy figures recorded by STN this Summer notwithstanding the extra employment opportunities & boost to the local & wider economy.
Certain readers taking personal exception to # 1105 above need to avert future gaze as it is certain the good news posts will continue.
Thanks.

Emirates Figures
Another good positive post for Stansted here regarding the Emirates figures.
A/D
05/09 353/329
06/09 363/315
07/09 354/357
08/09 343/338
09/09 362/320
10/09 347/311
11/09 343/308
12/09 344/tbc
So that’s a 99.7% load factor for the arrivals over the last 8 days, and departures at 92.4% over the last 7 days. This is if my maths right.
However you look at least his these figures are just amazing and well beyond mine and a lot of other airports staff expectations.
Even the based Emirates representatives are amazed at the factors. The arriving flights have got a lot of connecting passengers on them, not sure of the percentage rate though. Still talks that Emirates are looking to add a second daily flight some point next year.
A small note on a comment above about how Stansted’s changed from its original purpose of being curb to plane. I don’t think BAA when they originally built the terminal thought it would knocking on the door of 30 million passengers.

The Neo has no problems getting to EWR, I heard the Max’s were due at STN sometime in November, but maybe for training purposes looking at the new bases, might we see some STN routes operated buy aircraft destined for BRU, MAD, FRA and the none appearance of a summer 19 schedule at STN I’m unsure but loads are very healthy so I would be surprised if we don’t see dates announced soon.
Indeed looks like a 7m9 will be delivered to Primera in November. Makes sense it will be used for training, possibly in STN or CDG
I did quick math with CAA stats (June) and theroritical capacity (scheduled number of flights X gauge) and was not impressed by load factors (only EWR slightly over 80%). Maybe it improved in peak period, maybe my reasoning is wrong but, by LCC standard, it is low, eg compared to Norwegian in LGW

But how is it that EK has so many connecting passengers ? Do they have any interline agreement (not to my knowing) or are they "self connecting" ?

I may be naive, but I had always assumed that nearly everyone on an Emirates flight would be connecting. Can't think why anyone would want to visit Dubai, certainly not more than once.

Ryanair have now released a large number of routes for booking from Stansted for the summer 2019 season. The following are not on sale as of yet - they may go on sale for S19 in the future, or this may indicate route termination
Rijeka (already closed for S18)
Dole (winter 2018/19 only)
Frankfurt Hahn
Lublin
Basel
Grenoble operates in S18 and also W18 - as a ski route perhaps this is going from year round to winter seasonal
