Satellite one has the former KL lounge now occupied by Weatherspoons? To me, the area had the feeling of a quality build which hasn't had anything spent on it over the intermediate twenty years.

That said it would be nice if some sort of confirmation was made to ensure those boarding the people mover should board and not go to another pier - it takes a long long time to escape from gates 1-39 and return to the main departures area
If ITSU wasn't there to begin with....

Informative to read the all the info provided recently concerning the STP & the developments planned for this & future years at STN.

All points to a prosperous New Year & also well beyond for Stansted.

Not 100% but this will be on the Titan aircraft which already operates on a Sunday in the summer season.

The new PVK route looks like it directly replaces EFL on a Smartlynx A320

Definately a lot more scope on the Enfidha front, i can't see Jet2 going back to Tunisia anytime soon.
The Turkey routes on the other hand are interesting, nice to see some healthy competition here

Emirates

does anyone know if EK are upgrading to A380 from STN this year, booked to fly with them in October as they are £300PP cheaper than flying from my local airport, cannot access the seat map to book seats, just keeps saying unavailable at this time, but heard a rumour it may change to 380 from 77W

Very unlikely.
STN, while A380 callable in an emergency or as a diversion doesnít really have facilities for A380 ops.

i think the only stands are cargo stands on the west of apron Alpha, which would mean steps and bussing.

the 777 is a nice aircraft and they are the latest configuration from STN

For regular A380 service, we would need have a two or three arm jet bridge built and currently the airport will not do this as it would take to many stands out of action to construct.
The current trend is that we will have a second daily flight beginning at some stage this year. This would be flown on again another B77W. This would possibly be a two class configuration aircraft. Like the ones that have flown the extra flights over the festive season.

Belive at least two stands on Sat 1 are 380 compliant, recall BA bringing in one for testing purposes to ensure it would fit and test jetbridge, power etc etc

This link has picture and the information on the visit of G-XLEA back in 2013. I believe she parked on stand A12 or A13.

This link shows the taxiways and aprons the A380 can use but doesnít show the stands it can use.

Iím certain Iíve seen that pic. Pretty sure they parked a BA Cargo 747-8 next to the A380 at Sat 1 for the photo opportunity.

Iím guessing that if EK do bring the A380 to Stansted eventually, itíll just require a new air bridge for one of those stands mentioned above. If EK propose this to MAG you can bet your bottom dollar that MAG will bend over backwards to make it happen.

Original rumour was Emirates wanted to use the A380, but MAG said no due to having to take stands and areas of SAT1 out for construction.
I think that once SAT2 is redeveloped and the APV (Bussing Terminal) is expanded that will give room to move some EasyJet or Jet2 flights off SAT1 and allow construction of multiple two or theee arm jet bridges.

the Alpha stands have been reconfigured since 2013, so while BA did indeed park their 380 there that is no guarantee that it is still possible.

i hate a picture somewhere of the BA A380 and B748 together

I would imagine it still could park on A13 and A12 whilst SAT1 stands have been changed these changes where made to A14/15 A21/22 and J25 L/R.
Because of this in peak periods we can now park 20 narrow body aircraft around SAT1.

SAT 1 as originally conceived catered for 9 a/c albeit Jetway attached...so getting to 20 B737/A320 family a/c provided for at one time on SAT 1 incrementally over the years has been a very good maximum use of an asset.

It goes though to illustrate the problem of A380 provision at current levels/projections.

Hopefully when more stands including remotes & the recently approved mid-field parking become available then further adjustment can be made.

Back at STN and security still irredeemably awful. Half the lanes closed off and rude staff. Security is.never pleasant but it's still much better at LTN and LGW
