Nice update STN406

This shoreline check-in

Is the plan to do away with all the original check-in desk/Islands and replace with the shoreline concept from arrivals all the way to security?

Apart from knowing that there’s a current terminal transformation going on with new check-in and mezzanine seating in departures, there’s been no artist impression pictures to have a better idea of how these concepts will look.

Any ideas?

I don’t think MAG want to many images to be released till things are certain/confirmed.

Yes the new check-in desk design will eventually replace the whole island layout. But from what I’ve been told this may not start to happen till the new arrivals building is up.
Though again this is very likely to change. Currently the new check in desks are not connected to the baggage sort belts.
This is due to new belts and equipment being placed in baggage sort itself.

Currently the check-in desks are (or were in the original design) in zones, also described as islands, similar to how the desks are in the south terminal at Gatwick for instance.
The ‘shoreline’ concept will have check-in desks facing the front of the terminal building, running parallel to the front entrances, thus the name ‘shoreline’. Like how you approach the sea as you enter the beach. Pretty much the same as T2 at Manchester which may be where MAG’s inspiration came from.

Business Aviation...

According to stats being quoted by London Oxford concerning business aviation growth,STN just edges OXF as the fastest growing London terminal as measured from pre 2007 recession levels...LTN although the largest terminal in the period is recorded as down from 2007 levels...

OXF + 32%
STN +35%
LTN -17%

...& thanks for the PRI A321 info...two shiny A321`s in two days!...

The info you post confirms & bears out a news item from much earlier in the month I saw which quoted `PAA as entering revenue service 27.4.18 on AGP/ALC for crew training from STN & then to enter service to EWR 5.5.18 for a period...

The troublesome B757 wasn`t in service then so they may wish to replace more quickly but will probably be held back in that plan by working up the crews for the duration planned perhaps...

Figures for WOW Air today.
79 inbound
120 outbound
Had a small photo op when the plane landed and at the gate. Handed out cookies to departing and arriving passengers for todays relaunch of the flight.
Mali’s speaking to the handling agents, a lot of people where connecting onwards to the states on today’s flights.

Anyone know how WOW did for loads on their first services? Hopefully the punctuality was down to luck and organisation rather than both legs being empty. I think this is better bet for long-term North American connectivity from STN than Primera and they’re better established, but I’ve not seen too much in the way of promotion by the airport compared to other newcomers.

I didn't think those figures were that great, inbound 38% LF and outbound 58% LF. But let's hope they improve and WOW is successful at STN.

All the new airlines, Primera, WOW and Air Corsica are being handled by Swissport.
No news on Emirates or Widroe currently. I’ve heard we may be getting a brand new handling agent soon though.
