From ch-aviation:
Primera Air Scandinavia has confirmed it will add additional wet-leased aircraft to its summer London Stansted-based fleet amid delays in deliveries of its first A321neo.
Airline chief executive Hrafn "Krummi" Thorgeirsson told ch-aviation in a statement that the Scandinavian carrier would wet-lease a B767-300(ER) from euroAtlantic Airways for transatlantic flights between May 19 and mid-August. The widebody will supplement what is now known to be one B757-200 which will be wet-leased from National Airlines for use on Primera Air's London Stansted-Newark (and occasionally Boston) flights between April 19 to August 4.
Primera Air was to have taken delivery of its first A321neo this month. Thorgeirsson did not proffer any revised dates for the arrival of the type, but expects three A321neo to operate alongside the wet-lease equipment this summer.

TUI Summer 2019
As expected... no return of long-haul (at least for the time being).
2x based B738's as ever operating short-haul.
New route to Hurghada, Egypt (1x weekly).
Additional frequencies to Antalya and Palma Mallorca using third party operators.
Overall a better picture than S18 the 3x additional frequencies per week. HRG will operate in what is currently for S18 a W-pattern away from STN between the PMI sectors on a Tuesday, therefore giving STN an additional rotation per week on TUI's own metal.

Seems getting Jet2 was one of the best things to happen in recent times. I know there are a host of other airlines that are starting too, but Jet2 have been the real headline grabbers growth wise.
Thanks to the collapse of Monarch hitting the MAN figures, it seems STN has a real good shot of getting the 3rd largest airline place. Even though they are the same Airport group, will be a real shame for MAN but at least they can have solace that it’s a situation that was beyond their control and probably would have remained 3rd had there not been over 1.5 million seats taken out of the equation....

Agree with the sentiment LAX LHR...
Jet 2 growth is nothing short of remarkable & defies many expectations that their new capacity at STN last year would be at the expense of incumbents who overall do appear to be maintaining their commitment & their own capacity at STN...even additions too.
Notwithstanding also the addition of Primera into the med market (albeit limited & strategic for this year).
It would be a fair to surmise that the collapse of MON & the loss of that capacity at LTN in the North London med market has aided Jet2 at STN to an extent.
Primera have already acknowledged the MON loss as a factor which added impetus to fly short haul at STN this year rather than in their medium term planning.
It appears that MAG also had the view & analysis that Jet2 would be a market maker in the London arena & more power to them for that.
Yes..all the same group & the stronger the grouping gets...."the stronger the grouping gets".

Hardly a ringing endorsement of MAG & Border Force running of Stansted:

"The report concluded that management has just ” a tick box mentality” which did not correspond with the reality on the ground."

Why was STN not included with the rest of the Summer ‘19 Jet2 press releases? Something bigger planned?
If BHX is up to 11 aircraft next summer, I’d have thought STN will at least match that figure.

Hardly a ringing endorsement of MAG & Border Force running of Stansted:
One sentence says Staff at Stansted told inspectors that without the e-Passport gates Stansted would “fall over”. Of course it would fall over if the e-gates failed. If the airport could operate just as well if the e-gates failed, then they were a poor investment choice.
BHX is a different kettle of fish, as it lost a big based carrier in Monarch which has lead what was probably an over capacity situation on some destinations, to become a shortfall in capacity. That BHX becomes as big as or probably bigger base than STN is not that surprising.

Returning Passengers
The process for passengers which have missed their flight ‘returning passengers’.
When the passengers are processed at the security check point staff ask the passengers to return all duty free items to the shops before they can be processed through the customs channels.
If the passengers have got a few bottles or cartons of cigarettes in their rucksack how are staff meant to see this, if the passengers do not tell them.
I do think every returning passengers hand luggage should be re-screened for this to prevent any items being taken back landside but unfortunately this is not currently practical.
In terms of the ‘customs’ officers they are monitoring the CCTV in baggage to look for smuggling and if they see anything that may breach the import limits, they will act on this.
But they do not have staff at the channels 24/7 as again it is not practical. So yes passengers can take goods through.
I do think the process should be changed, but for now that’s what we have. If UKBF and MAG are really concerned they will change the process.

Hang on, when I went through in Jan, one could simply walk back out of the departure lounge without sight of customs. There was a clear “Returning passengers” channel, one way and unmanned. Has that changed?
Glasgow and Edinburgh have the same arrangements.

There also is nothing stopping you proceeding to the domestic departure gates with your purchases then walking straight out with arriving pax, if you were organised enough with your timings and had the inclination

I don’t see what all the fuss is about, it’s hardly an epidemic and it’s not like there is massive savings anyway.
There is bigger savings getting a cheap flight to the canaries staying a day or two and filling your hand luggage.

You are aware of course DAZ that the Canaries are not officially in the EU like Gibraltar so you are only allowed 200 cigarettes, one bottle of spirits etc. You should also not go through the EU channel when returning to the UK. Many have been caught out so beware.
