Completely agree with all the above. I really want to see Flylolo succeed but I find it pretty unbelievable how bad their twitter feed is, it’s completely unprofessional and doesn’t inspire confidence in the company at all. It reads like an opinionated infividual’s account rather than official PR for a company.

I see what you mean about Flylolo's twitter responses. When challenged with the use of 'London Sothampton' they reply that SEN isn't recognised by IATA as a London airport yet calls itself London Southend so why cannot Southampton. Well, I've got news for Flylolo; SEN was granted London status by IATA in 2012.

Flylolo sounds like a nonsense airline. There is no information in the booking engine showing operating airline or aircraft type. Their mantra is to offer cheaper flights in the peak, which sounds also nonsense, airlines have excess demand in the peak summer therefore don't need to discount.
I'm falling to see how this strategy stacks up. Charter/ACMI operators (Sounds like Jota territory to me) can charge a pretty penny especially in peak summer when airlines are in dire need of aircraft last minute, and now with 737Max problems, there is no way they'll secure aircraft in the peak at sustainable rates. Equally, what happens when the revenues they generate fall short of the aircraft hire costs???

took all night.
Did Flybe Q400 SOU-Verona last summer - don't think I'll do it again even though it's local for me

Seems the Czechs with Smartwings can fly a 737-700 in and out of the tiny Greek island of Paros with a 1400m runway !
payload limited to 120 pax
In the mid 1980's the Austrians flew 50 seat DASH 7's direct into Paros with just an 800m runway as it was then.
Great video clip here of 1980's flying there - tune in at 7mins into the film for the airport and Dash 7 scenes

Marlhill Copse Facebook page, does this remedial work mean changes to runway 20 TORA this summer (assuming works are completed in time of course)?

No change to TORA but if it's done right removal of penetrating obstacles (trees) from the Type A Chart will increase take-off weights and should permit more operators to use the offset departure routing to provide a significantly better obstacle environment, again further improving take-offs weights. Will be interested to see if it's enough for BEE to do something useful with their underpowered E175s.
It's taken 19 years since I first brought the issue to the attention of a previous airport owner, Bl**dy.Awful Airports plc, finally something is to be done!

My Parents live right next to what is supposedly "Marlhill Copse" and as far as they can tell there was no sign of any work going on there this morning at the end of the copse closest to the 02 threshold at least. Is there any kind of marked drawing around showing the location of the works ? If it is somewhere back in the thread could someone please point me to the relevant post.

The Marlhill Tree works have been stopped by a high court order after one person called for a judicial review of the decision to allow the work done on the trees.

Welcome to our world. We had a number of judicial reviews at SEN when we applied for our 1000 ft runway extension, but we won in the end. So today in addition to EasyJet, Ryanair have today based 3 Boeing 737s at SEN to start ops tomorrow to 13 destinations. It can be done SOU but you have to fight for it. Good luck!!

Lets face it Judicial Reviews are all part & parcel of all airport expansion in the UK.
STN appears to be in permanent JR.
This particular stay appears to be of SOU management`s own making for not being effective with tree management on the perimeter during the last two decades perhaps.
Have been thinking for some time they must be very tall trees to affect airfield op`s.
