Monthly CAA stats and diverted flights

I raise this subject again because I still have not been given a correct explanation.
In January 2018, for example, SEN received 2x diversions inbound from Dusseldorf, one of wihich flew back later to Dusseldorf. Pax quoted as 93.
I don't know if that is pax in and out, or only inbound.
There was one inbound from Paris-Orly with 44, positioned empty to LCY.
Plus one inbound from Milan with 43 pax, positioned empty to LCY.
Other diversions from Dublin, and Amsterdam pax may well be included in the grand total alongside EZY/FlyBe pax.

However, domestic diverted flights from Edinburgh and Belfast didn't show at all, whilst the Glasgow flight was probably included in the FlyBe figures.

Anybody know the answers?

I would suggest in and out. The 93 across those three flights is probably reasonable given normal loads along with the inclement weather and delays which will have put people off travelling.

LSA website part updated

Somebody in the office has placed "all destinations" onto the opening page which I think is a good plan. But....Carlisle is not mentioned....so I assume the person next office hasn't passed on the news yet.

I see Dash8s are once again having problems on the final Approach into LCY this morning. Three have already diverted to SEN. I was told recently this is due to airframe/props icing which require increase in speed but is too fast for the short runway.

5,000ft isn't short for a DHC8, maybe something to do with coming down the increased glideslope at such a fast rate of knots!

One of the January DUS flights departed to LCY very soon after landing so it's possible the pax remained on board. The BHD and EDI flights definitely off-loaded at SEN and departed empty so those figures should have appeared in the SEN stats. As you suggest DUB, AMS and GLA diverted pax will be included in the EZY/BE numbers for those routes.

I see that transit pax at SEN were 653 in 2017 up from 138 in 2016 which may be a result of the new Flybe connecting routes which started at the end of October.

Quite right Harry. I should have added on a short runway with braking action impaired.

I could see when I was playing around on Flybe winter schedule 2018/19 that there are definitely more and better options to transit through SEN from Groningen, for example, up to Manchester and Glasgow and the fares were very sensible too. For us people who don't have a problem to change flights once or twice with reasonable stopover times, the branches on the tree are certainly increasing.

It is a shame that the diverted pax will once again be met by Network Rail's eternal engineering works. Someone recently commented on Greater Anglia's Twitter Feed that Rome was built quicker than the time taken for these "route improvement" works.

I saw a few days ago that there were 2 Air Berlin branded aircraft parked up on stand - I assume that these were also here for a re-spray?

At least this weekend pax will be able to get to Fenchurch Street by using the free shuttle bus which runs every 30 minutes to connect to the c2c line at Thorpe Bay station. SEN no longer promote the GA line replacement bus service and now recommend that pax use the c2c line from/to London at weekends. Train journey time is about an hour and c2c also accept GA tickets under this arrangement.

Edit: As per the link provided above by DC3 Dave

That'll be Spurs for their FA Cup game against Swansea today.

Flybe

The deadline for Stobart to announce their intentions re Flybe is 5pm this Thursday. My money is on them retiring gracefully. The share price has taken enough of a battering recently without this further drain on funds.

I'm not so sure. I reckon it's 50:50 at the moment. The share price is still higher than it was this time last year.

However flyBE is quite a big portion to chew, maybe they'll seek something a little smaller and easy to digest.

Carlisle flights

I noticed this evening that there is still no mention of the Carlisle flights on the LSA website, nor is one able to book through LSA. Does that mean the only way to buy a ticket is via Loganair? And who will promote the route?

The CAX-SEN route not being on the website is a small problem compared to CAX not even been an active airport and not in the search criteria on skyscanner someone should be on top of this kind of thing.

Look, Sky Scanner only list flights by operators that are prepared to pay SS a percentage, SS originally, if not still, designated for LCC's.

I've just searched for CAX/DUB/CAX on fly dot com for July and the flights come up loud and clear.
