Fly to the Lake District from Southend Airport | Echo

I think it's good that at last CAX - SEN is a reality, and the tie-up with Loganair is interesting, but it's a very small step towards the 5 - 10 million pax pa Glyn Jones is still talking about. Still, it's the right direction.

Southend airport's Skylife Lounge ranked worst in new survey of pay-as-you-go lounges | Echo

Whoops!

Skylife Lounge

I was just about to post the Skylife Lounge report but DC3 Dave beat me to it. I am only pointing this out because I don't want to be accused of only posting the good news!!

It's good to read a frank statement of acceptance from Glyn Jones. I suspect he may have a cunning plan to improve the lounge, and this survey may be just the nudge to others that is needed.

At least Glyn Jones has given the correct response to the Skylife survey.

Sorry I found that comment funny.

Just an update that should benefit Southend. Luton appears to be is stopping overnight biz jets from June 1st as it has exceeded noise limits due to late arriving airline movements. At the moment all of the FBO's at Luton are open 24/7. With slots tight in the morning rush and aprons being turned into airline stands Southend could do well out of Luton's pain.

I am sure SEN could gain a small percentage but it depends if anybody is given the task to find that quarry before other airports beat them to it.
I bet Carlisle isn't on the updated LSA website yet despite tickets on sale now.

The only London airports that can handle a biz jet overnight will be Stansted and Southend.

The new route to Carlisle may not yet be on the SEN website but they are, today, getting good publicity on BBC East news bulletins. Loganair, Easy, Air Malta and Carlisle and the possible takeover of Flybe all getting good coverage on the lunchtime and early evening news.

And it was even brought up in Parliament this afternoon by the local Carlisle MP, I was quite surprised when I heard it but good for him for bringing it up and discussing the benefits of the route.

What a weird photo! Only the Herdwick seems to be standing. Is the dead teddy bear at Southend a bad omen for the longevity of this service, or at least for SEN as the London terminus....?

Isn't it odd. I wonder how much they paid for it, I could have delivered more with my Kodak Box Brownie.
Very sad and unprofessional.

No doubt they employed one of those extremely weird advertising agencies that produce tv commercials which bemuse and confuse some of us.

The time comparison is a bit disingenuous. No one in their right mind would intentionally grab a train arriving less than half an hour before the flight. Only a three or four minute delay is needed and you risk spending the night at the Holiday Inn.

The flight will generally save time, but they should be more honest.

I've long thought SEN is ideally placed for Scandinavian destinations - Its a shame STN got the Wideroe Kristiansand service.

I think SEN could support some Scandinavian routes. BA's LCY flights to ARN and CPH seemed to do well. ARN was increased to 3 daily just before being dropped so i assumed it made money just that more money could be made elsewhere.
