Apparently, the majority of passengers on the Flybe Scottish services are either crew on I'D90 tickets or a few codeshare pax. As I've advised before it's corporate they need to survive and this is the revenue they are struggling with. The new LHR services have not had a positive impact in share price either. My crew friend flew from Lhr to Edi last Thursday night. 31 on board 18 of them were staff.

Hello
All those comments about how LHR is bad and people saying : the friend of my sister who know someone working in Flybe has said ... Are not what we can call accurate information. We don t really know if it is working or not, there are 4 flights a day from EDI to LHR, it is not because some are really low pax that all are bad ... I heard from inside (I m staff), Flybe was happy with the start of LHR ops (it is what I heard, don't know if true ...)
I checked the pax load for today, LHR to EDI, 57, 70, 68, 63. Not bad at all from my opinion ...

I have operated the EDI - LHR service a few times now. I can honestly say it surprised me how full the flights were, standing room only on a couple. I believe a lot of the pax are connections.
The discussion about how many pax are on a flight is pretty meaningless in a business sense unless you consider the yield.
Hre's a super-simplified example:
To the casual observer a flight with 10 pax with £100 tickets would look the same as a flight with 5 staff on ID90s and 5 joe public paying £25 each but the first example would have a worthwhile yield where the second would not.

its the connecting pax on codeshares that didnt generate any money for BMI which is the worry. Where is all the connecting baggage going in the pokey Dash overheads? Certainly wouldnt be my first choice. As the prices are relatively low im surprised they are not solid full on every flight.

Does anyone know if Flybe are continuing there winter schedule to Malaga and Alicante from Norwich for the winter as nothing bookable still
The aircraft from Exeter looks like it is off somewhere when it gets to AGP /ALC as very late returns back into Exeter so was wondering is it going to be Norwich or even Southampton as again nothing bookable after Oct except Alicante on a Dash

Fleet renewal
Any thoughts on type/s replacement?
UK regional airline Flybe could make a decision by the end of the year about its future fleet composition, according to chief executive Christine Ourmieres-Widener.
Speaking to the Irish Independent at the CAPA Airline Leaders Summit in Co Wicklow, the Flybe boss said that the carrier is talking to a number of aircraft makers to assess its options.
"We are in contact with all the OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), because we need to decide where we want to go moving forward," she said.
"Our core market is point-to-point regional, so short distances. Within the group we fly Bombardier Q400, Embraer 195s and 175, and ATRs. So we know all these types of aircraft quite well."
But Ms Ourmieres-Widener, who ran Dublin-based CityJet between 2010 and the end of 2014, insisted it's "too early to say" what the composition of the future Flybe fleet will be.
"We are exploring all kinds of scenarios," she said. "It's a complex process."
However, she said that the board could make a decision regarding the future fleet this year.
"We could make a decision this year if we have all the facts and numbers that we need - that's what we have in mind," she said.
"It's better to know where we're headed. It's one of the most important decisions we have to take, and it will have to be sustained by a long-term strategy."

New aircraft
Could someone explain why Flybe need new aircraft when they are (presumably) trying to cut back some of the non-core flying ?
The Q400 fleet doesn't seem that old - I'm not sure I understand what's wrong with just sticking with it for a few more years; new toys do not come cheap
