Logistics this, logistics that, but if the airport are possibly turning away freight traffic (not the under belly stuff) then how it's supposed to be a viable business model?
If you look at the stand availability at peak times at the moment there is no room for more freighters.

While the T2 expansion continues the remote stands are needed for the passenger flights.

It is all about logistics.

Indeed, and apparently Lufthansa Cargo are the next to go after Sept. FedEx keep looking at other options for their B757 and ATR, so, there may soon be NO pure cargo flights at MAN in the next 12 months.

That would be a great pity if true - LH freighters must have been regulars at MAN for at least the last 50 years !
At the risk of showing my age () but I can remember the days when many of the European flag carriers' freighters graced the tarmac daily at MAN - SAS, Swissair, KLM, Finnair, Alitalia, Aer Lingus, BOAC/BA, Sabena to name but a few. LH would be the last to go. That's progress I guess....

And Karair DC6 if I remember correctly. BOAC was the Seaboard World CL44-D4.

It's true that LH have withdrawn all slots for the freighters from end of Summer 2017.

Don't know if DHL will run the 757F again this winter but the future for cargo at MAN looks to be below decks. Without checking the figures I would have thought that 27M pax annually vs c.130k tonnes of cargo looks like an unusual imbalance in favour of pax compared with most other airports with similar pax volume. Shows just how much is trucked in the UK.

On the point of car parking, T1 petrol station is due to shut at the end of the month apparently and be converted into a car park! T2 petrol station is due to go the same way at the end of the year.

That should stop a few people from avoiding pick up fees!

About time

It is so frustrating trying to navigate the congestion of taxis and cars waiting at the T2 petrol station.

Delta "leaving" the market to VS was about expansion. More capacity to JFK and new routes to BOS/SFO. It doesn't sound like SFO/BOS have been doing as well as expected - TCX are attacking VS - but they are back next year. The winter cutbacks to ATL and JFK to something like 3/4 weekly. Getting these routes back to daily in winter should be a key objective, but overall they have been building, and we wait to see what affect the JV with AF/KL has on this, if any.

UA are in an interesting position, particularly in light of their recent retrenchment in the U.K. It looks like they are pulling back into LHR, with EDI and MAN having routes to EWR. Would they bring the 763 to MAN and EDI?

AA have obviously struggled but it's surprised me that ORD seems to have survived. This on the B788 and PHL on the A332 should provide them with the platform to succeed on those routes. Whether success here would lead to anything in the future I have no idea.

Obviously, as more routes become viable direct from MAN, BA's shuttle will become increasingly less competitive and one day they may become vulnerable.
Not confident about increased winter frequency for VS to JFK.

Just paid 1500 quid for roundtrip in J.

About 200 of that was taxes (real ones, not the YQ stuff the airline keeps)

Been buying J on this route for 20 years and don't think I ever paid less.

Ho-hum.

No freighters, no diversions, no practice ILS approaches

Repeat "It's just a business , the airport, it's just a business......". No, it doesn't work, I'm a spotter at heart

Has the DESIG departure changed recently? There seem to be many more overflys at a lower level than in the spring.

Cancelled.

Took a Icelandair 757F diversion from EMA last night but allegedly refused the next request from a Jet2. (yes, I know about the must have ground ops in place, somewhere to park, proof of pilots birthplace in gtr manchester, etc, etc.)

Quiet isn't it? Seen any cash laden footballers at Signature?
