Thomas Cook added a fair few extra flights both long and short haul.

Further to the above increases mentioned by LAX_LHR: (2017 to 2018)

Antalya - 7 x weekly
Cancun - 6 x weekly
Izmir - 3 x weekly
Kos - 4 x weekly
Mytilene - 1 x weekly
Palma - 6 x weekly
Punta Cana - 3 weekly
Santorini - 3 weekly
Split - 3 weekly

Plus previously announced new routes to Girona, Thessaloniki, Madeira and Varna

Possibly a new short haul aircraft in there too......

Anyone have any idea what is going on with Thursday morning's Thomas Cook arrival from JFK? Announced at the gate as delayed 15 hours overnight and doesn't seem to be any sign of it going anywhere anytime soon either. Usual tales of woe from passengers with the standard lack of airline infastructure and outsourced ground staff meaning nobody to be seen, no information and passengers sleeping on hotel conference room floors.

The HiFly one left MAN this morning (operating Thursday's service on time). G-MLJL left MAN on Wednesday and has been sat in JFK ever since

Announcement

Is that the masterplan works start today (although we know they've started).
Anyway, MEN has lots of images of a new empty terminal where people still use luggage trollies and can navigate what looks like a maze!

New Fly Through Video of MAN-TP

This landed in my email this morning

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-kVHtXl324

There seems to be a distinct lack of retail units around the check-in area so I am sure that will not last. Planes do get a mention after about 3 minutes...

The audio voice is rather annoying too!

Chris Grayling is I believe heading North this morning. As far as I'm aware Manchester gets no subsidy from Government so maybe the airport powerbrokers are trying to extracate a few crumbs?

Please Sir can I have some more ?

...Well actually anything?

I believe Heathrow at 75m capacity is quite rightly getting £18bn in support for road and rail infastructure it is after all the national hub used by millions of Northern folk.

It does seem extroadinairy that an

"upstart airport in The North"

heading for one third of that figure, 30m gets zero. Although if you hang in for the 14:20 Hs2 Euston service on Thursday 18th April 2048, you might just get a few bob.

It might however be an opportunity for the airport CEO to give the Transport Secretary a dressing down re zero investment although I presume it will be simply lots of hot air about a "Virtual" Comittment to the NorthernPowerhouse.

" eh ah, lads, you go and borrow a billion and we'll take all the credit".

Need to remove that voice, very inappropriate.
Feels like a claustrophobic shopping centre; being local I want to transit airport in minimum time not shop or eat but I guess you have to attract and cater to the wider population Its a shame that they couldn't find a piece of land and start afresh like T5 at LHR.

that voice is really annoying!

Also, the need to fast forward several times shows you just how far some of the gates will be. I particularly don't like the need to go into the far corner of the building after security.

If I wanted to go shopping I'd go to the Trafford Centre. I want an airport to be quick to get in and out of not this cr*p. I don't want to spend time at the airport. Hopefully I'll never have to use this shopping centre. If airports want to make money introduce a fasttrack that bypasses this garbage and gets you straight from security to the gate.

Noticed that on the way home tonight. Thought I was being clever, cutting out the jam at Etrop Grange.
Great!

How many times do you have to go up and down stairs before boarding your flight

Aer Lingus increase Dublin next summer (from April).

Mon-Fri sees 6 daily
Saturday sees 5 daily
Sunday sees 7 daily.

Odd times on some though, Aer Lingus operate a 1720 flight, then Aer Lingus regional operate a 1740 flight.
