That kind of pricing probably explains their 337m dollar loss for 2016. With the oil price falling below 50 dollars a barrel again, is that sustainable for the Omani Government?

Or conversely it is a new route and new destination where they as an airline are not known. In which case they are aggressive with their introductory pricing.

Outbound on Monday only had 11 seats available inbound was 20 odd and I believe figures
in general are very good
If oil price is dropping should maker it easier for the airline

Oman

Chaps 1954, see your post on other thread concerning yield as opposed to volume.

Low oil price is hurting the oil states and undermining their ability to subsidise their airlines.

As for introductory fares, see 2016 loss as posted and threads elsewhere regarding Oman keen pricing.

Looks like Austrian are in the process of switching the OS2577/2578 INN-MAN-INN from pure charters to scheduled services.

The flight has now started appearing in GDS (to which it previously hasn't) and also gains a 2nd weekly flight on Sunday's. It doesn't appear on Austrians website yet.

OS2577 INN 0805 MAN 0925
OS2578 MAN 1110 INN 1430
Saturday's A321

OS2577 INN 0825 MAN 0945
OS2578 MAN 1045 INN 1405
Sunday's A320

The Sat flight is bookable all winter, the Sun flight starts 7th Jan.

VIE remains 5 weekly E190/A319 but the new flights mean Austrian will have 2 flights Sat and Sun from Feb.

Hi Ian

It's 5 weekly most of the winter, with no flights Tue/Sat.

Nov/Dec is 5 weekly, January then drops to 4 weekly before 6 weekly in Feb, 5 weekly in March me daily thereafter.

Manchester Statistics - March 2017 (Part 1)

Destinations that are either new (no passengers since my records started in January 2005), or have not been served for a number of years - if the latter then the month and year of the last service is shown.

Rostov - 133 passengers. This was, I believe, a 'one-off' for football charter.

A number of domestic statistics are currently missing from the CAA report for March.

CAA Stats for MAN - March

Thank you for those figures Scottie Dog.

It's interesting to see the impact on passenger numbers when competition is introduced.
Berlin is a good example where Ryanair this last winter started to compete with easyjet.
On Hamburg, there was already competition when Ryanair introduced flights but both it and Berlin saw increases of just over or just under 100%.
Both those routes saw more passengers than the long established Dusseldorf service and showed that demand was there.
Krakow I believe was another destination with an extra carrier which produced a huge percentage increase.

Vienna's fall in passengers is disappointing but is perhaps is one of the short-stay city destinations that gets a bigger boost at Easter, which this year was in April.

Of course, too much competition and excess capacity can lead to problems as was the experience with Madrid some years ago when MAN went from no flights to 3 airlines in a short space of time.

What we don't readily know is how the additional competition was reflected in load factors for the airlines concerned or the impact on fares and therefore yield.

April Stats

A record 2.25m passengers during April is excellent news. The article suggests that Manchester is the second fastest airport in Europe with these figures (+17%).
Positive figures also for cargo - 12% up year on year. Let's hope this trajectory continues.

[QUOTE=Edward72;9767976]A record 2.25m passengers during April is excellent news. The article suggests that Manchester is the second fastest airport in Europe with these figures (+17%).

That must make BHX the fastest growing airport then at 21.7%

Joking apart how can they quote second fastest growing airport when figures are only just being released ?

I think it is in the context of "Major Airport" which for these purposes is airports over 20m pax per year.

I don't think any of the articles specify this, so I could well be wrong and BHX and MAN could be #1 and #2 respectively!

Might be in terms of passengers rather than percentages ?

17% increase at an 25m+ airport is a damn sight more additional passengers than a 21% increase at an airport half the size.

Quite. Similarly, a 15% increase at a 40m+ airport is a damn sight more additional passengers than a 17% increase at an airport just over two thirds the size...

PMI had 23.7% growth in April, AYT 17.7% I think SVO might have also 15-20% growth.
