Stansted is slightly bigger than Manchester at 1,850,000 I think and I think Luton will be large increase.

And in other stat news, MAN-AMS has now carried over 1 million passengers in a year.

1,013,216 passengers.

At over 976,000 passengers, Dublin is not far behind either, and I'm sure I had read somewhere that Emirates expects to break the 1m pax a year at MAN mark at some point soon too.

Went past the airport a few days ago, and vegetation removal in full force around T2 area ready for ground works.

Also, the concrete plant next to the cargo centre seems to be in the process of being brought back to life. There were wagons and lots of workmen on site.

December passenger statistics

I hope you may find the following of interest - my apologies for the formatting, however I believe the data is just readable.

Manchester Statistics - December 2016 (Part 1)

Destinations that are either new (no passengers since my records started in January 2005), or have not been served for a number of years - if the latter then the month and year of the last service is shown.

Baghdad - Iraqi Airways restarted this route for the first time since before 2005. Passengers carried are shown as 781.

Aqaba (Jordan) - this destination last appeared in May 2010 when 150 passengers were reported. The only other record I have was in November 2006 when 360 shown. This December the figure was 576.

Odessa - A new entrant with 394 passengers

Dubai (World Travel Centre) - Another new airport, although not a new city with 1661 passengers

New staff parking, Staff East opening on the 1st April on what is currently Jet Parks Plus off Styal Road.

If your main base is Terminal 2, The Station, Voyager or 4M you will continue to park in Staff West.

I find it amusing that the airport calls every one "colleagues", perhaps they might like to remember that a lot of people who are based at the airport, such as flight crew and the airlines they fly for are actually CUSTOMERS of the airport.

Increased traveling time to and from Staff East, due to it's distance from the Motorway network and initially longer journey times to the terminal are hardly ideal for those of us who's working lives are ruled by flight time limitations.

Most companies are now dropping the word employee and replacing with colleague even if they work for other companies

Because most people working at any location will not be directly employed by the company. Quite apart from agency workers on zero hours contracts, they will have outsourced all non-core activities from cleaners to IT support.

My point was that I am employed by a Company who are a CUSTOMER of Manchester airport.

Just out of interest, who gets to park in the car park right next to T2, are those places taken up by colleges who are employed in time duty limited posts?

A good location for staff parking might have been the carpark on short finals to 23R by Ringway Road. Closer to the Motorway Network and closer to the terminal.

But why would MAG want flight safety to get in the way of profit from car parking?

The car park right next to T2 has closed in the past week. Ground works have now begun on half of the car park. The taxi waiting area is still in use though.

Council Van,

The new car park location probably adds about 5 minutes to an M56 routed journey, and then the bus transit from car park to T1 about the same as the current transit.

If you are implying that the said 5 minutes would be a borderline of a safe flying duty to then turning into an unsafe flying duty, then one should probably question the scheduling of your company as to why that 5 minutes is so critical, and thus as your company are the ones paying for car parking, maybe you should ask them to provide spaces in one of the 'customer' car parks so not to impede on your flight duty given they are the ones scheduling things so tightly.

But in addition to this, MAN has worked closely with airlines so that parking then becomes easier. They are creating 2 car parks so that no staff 'have to come past the airport to go to work'.

As this will be a large construction project, surely it's understandable that some things will be slightly up in the air while it gets sorted and bedded in.

Council Van, colleague, you're talking bollox.

Some crew commute from Europe to work.

Been on a LHR Shuttle recently and seen all those BA and VS crew positioning down in uniform?

4 - 5 minutes extra drive for local commuters is nothing for you to get into an internet sweat or have a futile dig at MAN over.

Final is singular btw.

Based in Europe, living in the UK, done that so I do not need you to lecture me about commuting.

I would suggest that you are perhaps the one talking ******** if you do not feel that minimum rest, struggling to find a parking space, not being able to get on the smallest bus on the airports fleet at the busiest time of day and long queues at security adding to the length of your working day are not a problem.

Problems this am with closure of Taxiway A at A3 requiring enter/exit of 05L runway if full length needed. Not sure if planned. EWR style departure queue for a while!

Surely an issue that may befall any car park no matter how close to the airport it is.

The only demographic that is changing here is an extra 5 minutes to your road journey to reach the car park. What is being said is if that 5 minutes makes or breaks a safe duty, then some other serious questions probably need asking long before the location of a car park becomes the sole cause of you going out of hours.

Do you mean T2 Short Stay or is it another car park nearby?
