Thomson

Reported on another forum that the UK-DWC cruise charters won't be returning next winter due to poor uptake.

No surprise at all to me. I've seen the itineraries and they are dull as dishwater plus the core clientele of Thomson are not the same people as those who would want to visit the places on offer IMHO.

Spend the day in Doha? No thanks...

correct. Along with some really non-descript places in the Arabian Gulf.

MAG has decided to make M'Learned Friends even richer in a vain attempt to promote STN at the expense of Gatters.

Well if they attempt to promote both it will also be at the expense of LHR (not that it would be deliverable in any event - so it hardly seems to matter).

what does MARR stand for?, I have heard of MORR (M60) and MAELR is SEMMS, and when SEMMS is completed the nightmare jams will begin!

Good on MAG for not just lying down. I applaud a challenge if needed.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe MARR is Manchester Airport Relief Road.

What difference does it make?

MARR was actually The Smiths' guitarist but I believe it is also an acronym for Manchester Airport Relief Road (correct, Sholto) aka 'SEMMMS' and I assume will be crowned the A555 once fully open.

The South East Manchester multi-Modal Study (SEMMMS) led to a series of transport improvements including the A6 to Manchester Airport Relief Road (A6MARR).

SKIPNESS

interesting link re MAG

Just thank the Lord all the old G#ts who used to debate mega spend at Heathrow appear to have all been banned in a stalinist purge.

Ok it may have detroyed the Manchester thread but at least their input has finally been crushed ad nauseum 😄

MOD's "Stalinist Purge"

Has also destroyed reasoned debate on the LHR thread, which has drifted away from the reality of what flows from the anticipated decision.

In the UK the government is subject to the rule of law like everyone else. In the case of R3, there are very good practical, financial and legal arguments why it is undeliverable, unaffordable and unlawful in its present format.

The exec of LHR's transparent attempts to paper over the cracks of their case for expansion and hijack this public debate (see for example the buying of Scotish support by exploiting the Batnett formula) is probably going to lead to their downfall. It also further increases the already obscene burden in Mr and Mrs UK taxpayer.

If Parliament are unwilling to scrutinise the evidence and take a justifiable decision (of whatever kind) the judiciary will make them start the whole process again (airport commission and all). All at the expense of Mr and Mrs UK taxpayer.

Regretfully for Pprune, the MODs inability to justify their own actions has also led to some its more informed posters choosing to discuss their views elsewhere. They will probay not be the last.

See you later.

So the Stalinist Purge explains the lack of activity, I must have been sleeping, although I will miss LHR-LAX's informed view of new routes

Likewise, and I have no idea what he/she said to warrant the ban.

Didn`t know LHR-LAX had been purged, his input was always factual and informative and tried to steer away from the aggro and turgid nonsense. I hope he makes a return soon ..very much missed
