Jet2 are now recruiting for their Manchester hangar. Part of their wider road show for recruitment.

Also, it's been noted on the 'OAG timetable' thread on a.net that Thomas Cook have loaded some significant frequency increases.

According to the timetable from May:

LAX goes 3 weekly
MIA goes 3 weekly
JFK goes 10 weekly
MCO goes 14 weekly (it was noted that April saw 21 weekly?!)
LAS goes 10 weekly

Also been mooted that SFO at 2 weekly isn't off the cards for next summer after all.

It was also noted in a Bajan news source that TCX were to increase MAN-BGI to 3 weekly, on a Tue/Fri/Sun but didn't stipulate when that's from.

All of this coupled with the fact CPT and MRU are also appearing in GDS, as well as San Diego in the MEN with the strap line 'passengers could soon be boarding direct flights', it seems TCX about to go on a large scale expansion spree!

I wonder if the current low value on the £ via $ will not have a bearing on expansion on the Bucket and Spade routes going west in the coming year, so quite a gutsy move by TC in the current circumstances if all this expansion comes off.

Indeed it is a very gutsy move if it does come off, but one wonders if all of this is not a competative move to fend off the VS and potential Norwegian expansion?

Also I fear MCO/MIA could be affected by the threat of Zuieka? End of the day, MCO in particular is family orientated, so with FCO advice against travel for pregnant/trying to get pregnant women, it could also affect numbers.

Sometimes money is a mere formality until it runs out.

With regards to the Extra Turkish flights, some of these will also be taking pilgrims to Saudi as the Muslim Hajj season has started.

Apologies if I missed this, but does this mean RYR is dropping MAN - BRE?

Stop thinking of Thomas Cook as simply a 'bucket and spade' operator. Whilst that market is still a significant part of the mix the long haul flights in question are scheduled services and as such attract a much wider clientele.

Will these increases see additional 330's joining the fleet or just more Scandinavian 330's being leased for the summer?

Looks like LAX and SFO are seasonal for now? (Unless the winter timetable is yet to be updated?)

I see from the MEN that 'council bosses' want to bid to hold EXPO 2025 in Tameside.

From Routesonline - the online platform for the air service development community...

Scoot is taking delivery of additional 787-8 Dreamliners and will configure some of its new aircraft in a modified layout for European missions. This will see capacity rise by around 4% to just under 350 seats through a reduction in its Scootbiz cabin and additional rows in Economy.

To maintain utilisation of these aircraft it is expected that Scoot will add at least one further long-haul route into Europe from next summer and could expand further form 2018. Markets such as Italy, Spain and the UK are viewed as potential growth options.
Surely they will leave Manchester to 'mainline' SIA after the recent SIN-MAN-IAH announcement?

Yes, it is highly unlikely that Scoot will appear at MAN any time soon. I think Scoot will focus on southern europe for now.
