Just sat in SIN having just got off their latest 350 (fantastic plane, 4th flight on SQ), and now waiting to board their cripple 7W (they are so poor) to MAN. That is excellent news on the growth. Part of me thinks great, but then you are doing an upgrade when it is busier than I first expected. I still do not see enough space on the north side being available to park the planes for growth. Would love to see the plans on how this will work, but as not a lot has been done, will have to wait.

Swiss

News from Swiss:
The Bombardier C Series 100, SWISS's brand-new aircraft for its European routes, will serve Manchester from 16 July 2016. The morning flight from Manchester to Zurich will be operated by this new aircraft and later this year, also the evening flight

Shame they ditched the lunchtime flight- but I guess easyJet has impacted demand.

Interesting in the following article in the MEN on 11 possible future routes that Oman is down as a possibility, despite the announcement by Oman Air they will start in 2017.

11 amazing destinations you might soon be able to fly to direct from Manchester Airport - Manchester Evening News

That's because the MEN are incompetent. At least the article is based on what Ken is saying and what Ken says is worth listening to. We already know about Oman and Houston so what about the others?

Interesting list, most with some substance or rumour. I'm hoping he mentioned them because they're on someones table!

We 'know' about Shanghai, Houston & Oman.

Delhi/Mumbai was mentioned by Air India or a tourist/business board.

Bangkok made it into the world top 50 of unserved routes by OAG. 29th

So what about San Diego (yes please!), Detroit (website typo rumour), Cape Town, Jo'berg and Addis Ababa (surely they could route something thru here and not DUB)?

I don't believe the airlines have yet confirmed either Houston or Muscat. They remain only rumours or articles at this stage. Same with Shanghai

The ones left out are almost as interesting as those listed in the paper:

Guangzhou
Chengdu
Xi'an
Tokyo
Kuala Lumpur

Obviously nothing from Central or South America.

I hadn't seen this confirmation only an article of the possibility and a tweet.

A quick Google search will show several articles confirming Oman Air flights at Manchester.

The list is interesting.

We know Muscat is confirmed, Detroit has made it onto the Virgin website of served routes, Singapore looking incredibly likely to open Houston and Air China Shanghai.

From that, San Diego is firmly Thomas Cook territory, Delhi Air India and Vistara for Mumbai.

I do believe it's only a matter of time before Ethiopian serves Manchester as it builds up a very decent hub at ADD, and Cape Town could be TCX, Fred Olsen cruises are apparently already using allocation of a yet un-named carrier for direct flights to join its ship in CPT.

It seems like Ken O'Toole has released a list that is incredibly easy to tick off. The only question marks for me are Bangkok due to yield and Jo'burg due to which carrier will operate said route.

All the routes have a very good chance of being announced in the next 2 years. Suppose you have to show what the terminal investment could be worth....

Thank you LAX_LHR for your, as usual, informative response and thoughts. We are lucky to have members such as yourself, amongst many others, on this forum.

I echo those sentiments.

Where are TCX going to get all their aircraft from? CPT, SFO, increases at LAX, BOS, MIA and JFK...

On a forum clearly mainly populated mainly by Northern folk the inclusion of a smiley thumbs up face after that sentence goes down as childish trolling IMO.
