Now the guys from MAG, must be PPRuNe readers because he ran round and removed many of the elastic barriers and made the journey to the desks much shorter. Now get this, even at that time every Border Force position was staffed and the electronic gates were up and running.
Another late evening arrival in to T1 last night and yes, maybe comments here do get read by those that can do something about it. The young Asian guy at the Border Control entrance was a model of civility and welcome. He somehow didn't feel the need for shouting his head off at people arriving. Created a calm and relaxed environment.
All went very well. Was outside the terminal 10 mins after walking off the plane. Nice job.

Proposed daily Singapore-MAN-Houston. 2 777s on the ground at the same time. SQ328/7 becomes SIN-MUC-SIN. Dont know what will happen to SIN-Moscow as the Houston tag-on is going here but presume it may go to A350

Not quite, the story is that it involves a big hike in capacity, a new route and a new "non stop" route:

SIN-MAN-IAH-MAN-SIN

This Singapore flight is presumably going to open up a shedload of new connection opportunities. From Lufthansa feed at the MAN end to United options at the IAH end, this looks to be an excellent addition.

SQ62 SIN 0230 MAN 0810-0940 IAH 1405
SQ61 IAH 1740 MAN 0835-1005 SIN 0615+1

Daily B77W 2 aircraft on the ground between 0835-0940.

MAN are to re-configure 2 more T2 stands to accommodate more B77W given we will have 2 SQ and the CX B77W on the ground together. Below is the ACL news report and worth noting SQ have only ever applied for slots they intend to use.

What's interesting with this longer term is that MAN having US pre-clearance would make this sort of route very attractive to airlines like SIN as it saves passengers time in the US without adding time to the frontend of the journey as pre-clearance seems to do for point-to-point.

Is Houston a new route from MAN? I can't ever remember an airline serving this route in the past. Is it correct that American Airlines once served Dallas from MAN? If so, this will be MAN's 2nd route to Texas.

I think that's a very good point, for routes through and terminating at the U.S. and UK MAN looks a good opportunity.

South East asian routes could benefit from this...

Just wondering, as the turn around of the Singapore Airlines aircraft to IAH is only 90 mins, would this leave sufficient time to process say one hundred passengers through US pre-clearance in the future? Also could delays processing passengers in US pre-clearance cause delays to the aircraft?

I guess that would depend on the layout of it in the TP. I think the plan is for it to be located in one of the piers and there would need to be some form of access from this to the aircraft - assuming the passengers are going to deplane at all.

Does anyone happen to know if Etihad are planning to operate their A380 to MAN in the future?

I'm only asking as some of the artist impressions of the MANTP show two aircraft in livery (EK & EY 380's). All other aircraft are shown as plain white.

If SQ news is true, then I have my concerns about the long term plans of SQ to MAN. That departure time out of SIN is not going to cut it with many travellers.

What's the issue with the flight time?

Currently, the SQ328 leaves SIN at 2310, so, a 0230 departure is in line with many other European flights, with CDG/LHR/BCN/FCO/MXP all having similar times. The current SQ62 leaves around that time too?

Just unsure at the issue. But then again, some said the same about Hainan that the early flight would put people off, and it's currently run at no less than a 86.1% load thus far!

If SQ news is true, then I have my concerns about the long term plans of SQ to MAN.
The proposed scheduled arrival time into MAN is just 20 minutes later than under the existing arrangements. But the overall flight time will be substantially reduced as a result of not stopping at MUC en route. Departure on the MAN-SIN sector is 55 minutes later than at present, again with a much quicker flight time. Surely that has to go down as a major improvement for customers familiar with the service?

Timings on the transatlantic sectors seem pretty standard compared with similar services. Most travellers should be fine with those as well.

In fairness a lot has changed over the past year - I'm sure management would have been ahead of the curve but the last 18 months or so has seen significant changes...
