I'm actually staggered they do so well out of Gatwick!
Yup - agree, they confonded expectations by being top choice in SEO for many routes and flying a punctual program with brand new WiFi equipped aircraft against easyJet and Ryanair, they're one of the reasons Monarch almost went to the wall.

NORWEGIAN

...damn, if only they had employed same tactics at Manchester on the Scandinavian routes. They would clearly have cleaned up by now.

Given the meteoric success at Gatwick I'm suprised they have been unable to replicate this in a similar market at Manchester, very odd!

Would hold the same view on short haul however they have prime time sponsorship on one of the ITV channels for weather so I expect brand would become well known quickly.

Whilst only a small step interesting that Korean Air are doing a short programme to Glasgow in the summer.

Typically it is being sold by Glasgow Airport with some gusto !!!

It does demonstrate that more and more airlines are looking beyond London...and seemingly indeed Manchester !

From CargoLogicAir's website

CargoLogicAir is a new British cargo airline offering customers the highest levels of service, safety and security, and all delivered by our highly knowledgeable and experienced team of air cargo professionals.

From our headquarters at London Stansted Airport, we operate scheduled Boeing 747 Freighter services as well as global air cargo charter flights for customers around the world.

With our lean business model, the development of CargoLogicAir’s services and network will ensure our customers enjoy a consistently high quality of service, and this will be further enhanced as we explore new market opportunities.
Think they did a charter from the Northern Powerhouse airport of Finningley the other day...

Cannot help thinking we have been had here. ....

As I have said before the management are simply passing thru.

In 5 -10 years they will have moved on but the strategic decisions they make today are vital and will leave a lasting legacy for a good while to come.

There may well have been synergies of scale with the purchase of Stansted .....

And a juicy London..ish runway with an asset value of many billions undoubtebly looks fantastic to KPMG,

But sorry, from this side of the fence I want freighters up here on our tarmac servicing our customers in our area ,not an apron that for too long has resembled an NCP car park and a cargo operation which sees more truck movement's than Lymm services !

Plenty to see in Manchester over Chinese New Year sponsored
by Hainan Airlines and Manchester Airport so getting plenty of cover for the new route

T2 baggage

I'm sure there will be a T2 baggage expert on here.
I travel a fair amount worldwide & use TSA approved combi locks on my checked luggage .
Despite my worldly travels, I rarely pass through T2. Late last year I did use Singapore A/L - my bags were delivered undamaged but minus the lock. I have just flown with Cathay & again my bags are delivered at destination undamaged but this time the lock is almost split in half.
This phenomenon would seem to happen only departing MAN T2.
Any answers as to why? - so every departure from here costs me another fiver for a new lock.

Mr A Tis

Guess you might just be unlucky.
I've been going through T2 around once a month for a long time (mainly with DL/VS or QR). No issues whatsoever.

My only regular bag gripe is with Newark Airport where I have had a number of damaged bags / locks etc, although UA have been pretty good at compensating

Fjencl,

It seems that Avion Express may be operating for Thomas Cook this summer although that wouldn't necessarily preclude them doing some for Monarch too I wouldn't have thought.

If they are leasing from another operator it will most likely be BHX based as it has been over the last few years.

The 30 most beautiful towns in Europe - Telegraph

Manchester Airport - Conwy 1 hour 5

Heathrow Airport - Conwy 5 hours....... if you are lucky!

Now can "anybody else " see a cunning plan racing towards us here?

JATA, VisitWales, Visit Britain, MAG Press Office (Manchester Division), Japan Air, All Nippon.

OR keeping to a Chinese theme how about Omega Travel ?

Yes I got that EMail too, excellent publicity for the Chinese New Year celebrations in Manchester featuring Hainan and Cathay - I certainly had no idea there was so much going on around the area during the festive period. I don't do social media but hopefully it's on there too.

Bagso before you see it you had better take one of your pills, and then have a good lie down afterwards

Yes rejoice. ....excellent bit of marketing, escaping the usually strict Mancunian agenda and hopefully reaching out right across the North.

Smart move including our "other" Chinese carrier Cathay as well !

10/10

Pills remaining in bottle.... for the time being 👍

Old route analysis

I have just finished creating a spreadsheet of passenger figures for the period 2005-2015, using data from the CAA database.

I find it interesting to see that a series of charter flights operated to Porlamar in Venezuela between 2000 and 2008. As this is a route that I was unaware of, can anybody give more details as to which tour operator flew the route and why it came to an end?

Finally it is interesting to see that 446 destinations have been served in this period - including scheduled and charter flights.

Porlamar

Seen the remember it was First Choice that operated the flights to Porlamar, Venezuela. Unsure as to the reason why the flights came to an end however.
