Is the "twittersphere" really the best place to find out? Since slots will be required for AI to operate to MAN the most reliable source of info is likely to be a slot application or better, slot allocation would be preferable. At least that would show some operational intent.
I agree, and there are other details that tend to leak out. For example, enquiries about hotel rooms and crew transport, requests for information and costs from handling agents; even senior personnel from an airline being seen around the airport. None of these are necessarily substantive proof of a definite imminent new service but they do add some credibility to rumours - and of course it can be these sort of factors that start a rumour in the first place.

I don't see why we cant use social media to keep up to date with any new routes.

TAP announced Manchester (and the other Euro routes it launched at the time) via Facebook first.

Thomas Cook re-confirmed on their twitt*r that MAN-LAX was still happening despite being 2 weeks before the official announcement.

Plenty of other examples too. Yes, sometimes you get the bog standard 'auto-reply' as I like to call it, but, there are times you can strike it lucky.

An interesting development, presumably in part to attract more US originating business.

and I politely asked

You may have 'politely' asked about the AI articles, but, you also made sure you got a little dig with the Hainan comment. Lets not suddenly play the Mr Innocent and sweet card.

Its to get a foothold in the retail/car parking soultions game, such as advising US airports on what retail paths to go down and how much to charge for car parking etc.

It will help MAG get a bigger presence in the US, but, I don't think this is much to do with 'aviation' service (ie trying to get more airline business to the UK MAG airports)

Yes, I guess you're right. It's more to do with consultancy for airports rather than interaction with airlines. And MAN has provided consultancy in the past as I recall.

Still, if it helps to raise MAN's (& MAG's) profile in the US, it can't be a bad thing.

EY is reverting to 77W on both daily AUH services from 01 June.
Apologies if this was reported already.

It is new news Logohu.

Its likely our A330 may be going to the new EDI flights so we get the B77W instead.

EY

Thanks logohu. Memory is failing again - is it the 2 class version with 412 seats or the 3 class configuration with 330 seats?

It will be the 2 class version. 3 class only used as a sub if needed.

Winter EY still showing A330 in the morning and 77W in the evening, but they seem to have the flexibility to move capacity at quite short notice so plenty of time still for changes.

Also during first half of October TK are upgrading quite a few morning flights to A330s again, and the new late evening flights to A321s. I expect this is due to Hadj demand.

I see Manchester - Moscow is being dropped from October. Not a real suprise with other airlines cutting back on the Moscow route.

Jim O'Neill lands key Northern Powerhouse role - Manchester Evening News

This is tremendous news. Jim O'Neill is evangelical about Manchester Airport and will hopefully ensure henceforth it is centre and lead of the Northern Powerhouse debate.
