Saw on another site that Delta are operating a number of ATL rotations instead of Virgin in April, with B772s.

VS A330 refits not going to plan?

Unless anything has changed Virgin don't take over JFK until 25 May. Easter holiday upgrades?

Not sure what the JFK route has to do with the Atlanta service- I may have misunderstood the point you are making Chinapattern?

Here's another one for LAX-LHR, last year Air Canada mainline operated a number of Rouge rotations in June, any news of the same this year (?) I managed to get on an AC mainline last year- so much better than ROU.

Sorry, I completely read your first post wrong and I thought you were talking about JFK. It's been a long week!

Diversions & Flybe

Thomson 787 BHX-BGI just about to land at Manchester (didn't get very far)and Thomas Cook 763 FRA - PUJ in the hold - busy morning!!!!!

Flybe

What is the status of Flybe Glasgow and Inverness as both off sale from 1/9 due to the Loganair disassociation. If they are looking for long-haul connections surely this can't go on for long as people will be looking to book now for September. Obviously no problem for domestic as these bookings will be fairly last minute but are they canned or are looking for alternatives to putting the Dash 8 back on them?

Clearly major changes with the Flybe summer timetable with several flights greyed out such as one BHX-MXP and MAN-SOU.

Their use of the 175 is very strange - still showing on both Newquay's yet MAN - DUS up against Eurowings is a Dash 8. At times it is really difficult to understand Flybe.

Been a busy few days at Manchester for diverts, as well as today's 2 diverts, at least 3 flights had to return to Manchester with various issues in the past 2 days (Easyjet, Jet2 and Flybe) and a biz jet from Dublin had to divert due to smoke in the cabin.

As for Flybe, must be a work in progress as both GLA and INV were announced as getting increases so would be strange to pull them after such announcement.

The transition will take place on 1 September 2017. Loganair will establish its own reservations system by March 2017 for flights on and after that date via its website at Welcome to Loganair - Scotland's Airline and will continue to take bookings via key travel agents and partner airlines in future.

MAN-GLA/INV now sit with Loganair so flybe are no longer operating come end of franchise I believe. Perhaps handing them over now seems like a mis-step given the feed?
My understanding was Loganair would offer these routes under their own banner.

Manchester TP

The area around T2 is now looking massively different, trees and shrubs around the PTOC are no more and construction fencing has gone up around Palma/Melbourne Avenue.

The concrete plant near the freight terminal is being brought back to life, generators were being unloaded on site today.

BA - About to restart NYC Route (and start other long haul routes) and Move to T1?

I rarely frequent the MAN thread, but just read this and thought you guys might like to mull this over, or completely discredit the article.

British Airways starting New York from Manchester

Apparently BA might be about take over the MAN-JFK route from American, and is mentioned the AA route is only on sale until the end of October.
(Is the route currently seasonal or operated all year round?)

They also mentioned BA has struck an agreement with Manchester Airport to move to T1 and take over a number of long haul gates at T1... Does this mean BA want to start long haul (?) or just allow room for OneWorld Ops to come together with AA (PHL/ORD) and Cathay Pacific (HKG).

Does this mean BA are coming late to the party, after noticing the success of Virgin Atlantic and Thomas Cook on Long Haul routes from the airport? Usually BA tries to avoid getting into blood baths and competing directly like this, but I wonder if they have no choice, and are noticing a drop in connecting traffic from the airport via LHR?

If this is true I wonder if they will go with the 787 or the newly announced Gatwick style 10 abreast 777's from MAN?
Or possibly maintain a small sub-fleet of 767's at the airport before they retire in a few years?!

Further BA expansion?

Another site is reporting BA could be about to announce several long-haul routes out of MAN and a potential move to T1.

T1 full

With ba potentially moving to T1 who is moving out? T1 is full at peak times (especially early morning) when aircraft are parked remote and tugged over to contact stands once the early flights have gone. It's also worth remembering that the airbridges on T1 aren't connected to domestic arrivals so pax would have to be bussed round to arrivals.

Would tcx move to T2? Maybe jet2?

Really cannot see BA moving to T1!

Firstly, I cannot see them wishing to move to T1 as they would have to build a new lounge and if they want to bring Oneworld together then wouldn't it be easier to move to Terminal 3 or even T2. The only OW carrier at T1 is Finnair (Aer Lingus do op at T1).

MAN is in desperate need of a new Terminal before any more expansion.

If BA moved to T1 then Vueling, Iberia and co would also relocate..?

T2 is full in the mornings and empty in the evenings, perhaps with Iberia and Vueling having evening flights T2 may be a more suitable Terminal. There are no wide-body gates left at T1, Etihad and Thomas Cook have taken Pier B.

It may even be more suitable to move KLM and Air France back across to T2 to free up space for more BA at T3?

Another move could be to shift UA across to T1 so it is with the other Star carriers and would free up a little extra space in the early mornings.

They should:

1. Move KLM and AF to T2 so all of SkyTeam is together.
2. Move UA to Terminal 1
3. Keep BA at Terminal 3

Remember Stands 56, 57 & 58 will be able to be used without busses for S17 so that will free up two to three extra stands on T3.
