RAM press release is starting to filter through but not seen it on the net anywhere. (Casablanca "thrice" weekly). Had a look on their website and nothing there but noticed it's another of those annoying location set as London by default!!
A few airline booking engines do this. CX starts with LHR and AA with LCY??? Or is it something to do with Windows 10 location services?

Casablanca
It is the financial capital of Morocco, you would not really want to visit other than on business and I do not believe that the North of the UK has a large Morocon ex pat population so I guess London is the most likely destination/departure point from the UK.

CAA figures for 2016
So ... 1st February 2017. And still no stats published by MAG for EOY-2016. I've never known the end-of-year stats so late to publication. I'm not keen on this notion that releasing a round-number soundbite for use by the tabloids is a valid substitute for releasing the real data. When can we hope to see the actual numbers?
Whilst not doubting the figures that j636 has provided, using the CAA's published figures that I have shows an annual total of 25,542,985.
Council Van are you saying you don`t think we are getting the service or we don`t need it?
Manchester is now the second only to London and picking up many routes that would never of been imagined only a few years back

Royal Air Maroc has announced the flights from Tuesday, March 28, when the Moroccan flag-carrier will begin operating non-stop direct service on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The launch sees Manchester Airport become only the third UK airport to operate flights to Casablanca, with the airline also currently running services from London Gatwick and London Heathrow.
The new service will use Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with both business and economy class seating available. The scheduled flight time is approximately three hours and twenty minutes.
As well as offering direct flights from Manchester to Casablanca, Royal Air Maroc’s new service opens the door for connections to 33 African destinations.
Key connections through Casablanca, the second-largest hub to Africa, include Lagos, Accra, Nairobi and Banjul. There is also an opportunity for flight connections to Brazil, as well as daily connecting flights to popular tourist destinations such as Marrakech and Agadir.
Royal Air Maroc serves more than 90 destinations in four continents, bringing Africa closer to the rest of the world. The airline’s UK & Ireland General Manager, Achraf El Hassani, said: “Royal Air Maroc is delighted to launch the only non-stop service from the North of England direct to Casablanca, with thrice-weekly flights between Manchester Airport and Mohammed V International Airport.
“We are thrilled to be providing yet another invaluable link from the UK to Africa and look forward to welcoming passengers on board our service from 28 March.”
Manchester Airport is the UK’s third largest with more than 25.6m annual passengers.
It has more than 210 routes served by 70 plus airlines. Stephen Turner, commercial director at Manchester Airport, said: “We are pleased to see Royal Air Maroc launch services from Manchester Airport. Being the only airport outside of London with this carrier firmly reinforces our position as the UK’s Global Gateway for the North.

I was saying that with the nature of Casablanca and fact that it is a commercial and not tourist destination it is only natural that Royal Air Morocco would see London as the main market in the UK in response to a previous comment
Royal Air Morocco are starting the service and they obviously think that there is a market, I have no idea if it will be a success or not. Having visited Casa many times on 36 hr minimum or 4 day lay overs if you were lucky I would not choose to go on holiday or for a city break but if you do ever visit then go to Rick's Cafe and the fish restaurant in the harbour.

Nigerian Gov G5 diverted in last night and is still here.
Hopefully they like the place and sign up a new route....
It begs the question, why doesn't Manchester have at least a Lagos service? According to the census info, the Chinese and Nigerian populations are the same number in the City of Manchester (not Greater Manchester).

I remember watching a very impressive Air Maroc 757 depart Man in, I think, the 80's.
I was on the footpath along side Airport Hotel pub. Thrust was increased with the parking brake on, when released, the 75 lurched forwards and within seconds it was airborne climbing away at a rate normally seen at airshows.
The most spectacular 757 take off I ever saw. It is amazing what these aircraft are capable of.
