MANCHESTER 1
I thought that the car parks are some of the first to go now that carpark at end
of runway is open. I also notice that the land off Styal Rd near the Hungry Horse
is allocated for parking upto 200 cars but needs a new owner
One of the huge car park losses was the large one at Handforth Dean a few years
back which is now going to be a shopping centre

but there is one thing for certain there will be huge opposition
I don't remember anyone even sighing the last time the apron was expanded...the three stands nailed on the end of T3 on the way out to 23R
Has there ever been 'huge opposition' to any apron expansion?

Available on the Norwegian website - all 3 routes show D8 flight codes, so will likely use the EI- fleet.
Malaga starts 2nd June, ops Mon/Thu/Fri/Sun
Alicante starts 3rd June, ops Fri/Sun
Barcelona starts 30th April ops Tue/Sat
All book through to the end of October.

Facebook people seem to think spain based and evening timings. Will be interesting to see how they fare against the mancehster based morning timings.
I am going to Malaga in a few months though and I'm using Monarch on the way down but on the way back th eonly way I found to get a few hours out of the last day was to go via Brussels on the way back, so there might be a gap in the evening for norwegian to fill. Purely based on my one time anecdotal evidence though.

Ryanair can (and do) fill their aircraft every single day during the summer holidays regardless of flight times.

easyJet
I personally think that easyJet could have done a lot better at Manchester a couple of years ago but growth was very slow and Ryanair now have a substantial base with many routes. Now Ryanair have a bigger presence at MAN than easyJet.
Although last year saw them start flight to places like Porto and Vienna which seem to be doing really well. Also this year easyJet have announced several routes including important ones like Paris CDG and Milan. But I still think there is still more room for easyJet to grow. I was thinking routes to Rome (Fiumicino), Naples, Barcelona, Lanzarote & Faro. Anyone else think the same and what other routes are easyJet missing from their base in Manchester?
Also does anyone get the thinking behind the Manchester-Tivat route? Considering they have also announced a route from Gatwick.

Easy 11 aircraft this year so an extra 2, Tivat is an interesting one
as it looks as if they are trying to get the market kick started in
the old Yugoslav area as this used to a huge market from the northwest
in 70s/80s. Easyjet have dropped quite a few flights from Gatwick
so have a few gaps to fill

Just an observation re Norwegian flights MAN-ALC. Because these flights operate in the evening, it is actually possible for Monday-Friday workers to travel over for the weekend without using up any of their holiday allowance. I haven't checked the MAN-AGP evening timings, but given days of operation include Friday and Sunday it is probably an option for this route too. I have already booked an Alicante weekender for GBP56.50 return. The cheapest seats will no doubt be snapped up quickly.
Spain is expecting a rise in pax of about 20 to 25% this year so the airlines
are shrewd enough to know what is happening, bhx had A 222% increase
from 4300 to 13600 and MAN an incredible 80% on a much bigger passenger base
of 11400 to 20700 and thats in February and if you look back to 2013 and 2014
they were 5300 and 6700 at Manchester

The only route listed that could be a bloodbath is BCN. You might say how many airlines can be on the MAN-BCN, but that hasn't stopped airlines in the past, easyJet would have an advantage over the like of Vueling as they have a strong presence in both the UK and Spain and are recognisable in both.
Also I was questioning the launch of the Tivat route not because of its beauty, but I was questioning if there is enough demand and the aircraft could be used in a stronger market.

Vueling have a very strong presence in both countries as they are part of the IAG
group with Iberia and British Airways and I believe will be code sharing and
as they say watch this space re Vueling and to be fair Norwegian who will
both be household names in the next few months
Tivat is a place that will become very popular and Easy are going to make it
theirs.
The shape of the holiday market is changing once again and pulling away from
Africa, Turkey and to a lesser extent Greece due to the uncertain times we
have and going back to the safe havens of Spain, Canaries and Portugal
so Spain are in a wonderful place this year as everybody wants a bit including
the Russians as they can`t go to Turkey. The airlines are going to love it because
they are short sectors compared with Greece/Turkey, North Africa and can squeeze an extra rotation in

Ryanair seem to have made Ibiza 2 daily for the summer. Not sure when they added the extra flight, as was originally just 1 daily. Palma also gains a 14th weekly flight.
Spain really hotting up this summer, that's 18 new weekly flights announced in just 7 days.
Edit: other changes
Faro will be 3 daily on Tue/Sun
