A known event is the official launch of construction of Airport City, the question is will there be anything to add to this news story.
A good question eggc. Getting worried about that £1 bet??

Of course there will, talks are on going about opening an air line between MAN and China bla bla bla and the usual PR spin to send the media into meltdown over the issue.

It would be the right time to announce an air service for next year but surly airline reps would be present for such an event?

The FT is reporting "An air link from Manchester to Beijing is also set to be announced during Mr Xi’s visit."

Incidentally, on the page listing 'New' and major changes for w2015/16, it has RYR as 6 x daily. I thought it was the same for s2016 but the schedules on the RYR web site were now only showing 5 x daily when I checked again recently. (edit: yes, the 15.15 departure in winter not showing for s2016).
Just to come back to this, it's only June, July and first half of August showing 5 daily Dublin. All other months up to October 2016 are showing 6 daily.

It will drop for the 3 months in due course unless they have surplus aircraft.

As for an eight aircraft wait for an announcement, if it doesn't happen an additional aircraft is unlikely.

IF (in caps) there is a route to China to come, any remote possibility it might not be any of Air China or Hainan ? TCX maybe ? Less likely, but VS maybe ? Can't wait until all this guessing is over !

I am puzzled now.

The current published timetable requires 8 based aircraft all summer and as I quoted above shows and has always shown 6 per day to Dublin.

Are you saying 8 based is not guaranteed and the whole timetable may need changing

China is too far to be done with a single aircraft, would need swapping into a bigger network wherever it's based, I don't think VS have enough based aircraft of the same type to achieve that at MAN

I think it was only dates in July I checked that made me originally think it was 5 x daily for the summer. Apologies.

Anyway, on the Ryanair web site (the old version as there seems to be a new one), the 6th flight shows as dropped from the 1 June but returning on 1st August.

That's normal. June/July is Ireland's peak summer period so the Dublin - UK routes cut back slightly to make way for flights to more beach/holiday destinations from Dublin.

2 class A380 on the EK19/20 now permanent instead of changing back to 3 class on 1st April.
4th daily mirroring the EK29/30 timings at LHR is expected from MAN, flight numbers EK23/24.
FlyerTalk Forums - View Single Post - Emirates New Routes and Changes 2015

This announcement should be made on the 25th anniversary of EK at MAN this November. 4th daily flight should start next May with B77W.

Quick query; I'm trying to book a flight to/from Malta with Air Malta for next summer but I can't find any available flights after the end of March on their website. Are they pulling out of Manchester

EK23/24

can MAN cope ?!
If the rumour of a 4th daily proves to be true, and the timings of EK23/24 mirror those of EK29/30 at LHR, that would put the turnaround in MAN somewhere between 1430 and 1700 local time - well away from the morning crush.

I wouldn't be surprised if Air Malta now pull out of MAN on a scheduled basis, given how much capacity there is on MAN-MLA. Surprised it's lasted this long to be honest.

In terms of China, I'm in the firm belief the route will be a Chinese operator, I can't see Mr Xi making such a big deal over a UK carrier, particularly if it was a token TCX low frequency schedule.

And, as I've said, given CA is the national carrier of China, Mr Xi surely has reason to promote that over the private enterprise of Hainan.

Air Malta are under pressure from Ryanair and Easyjet in the UK market even from London at the moment.

Manchester has been one of their longest operating routes - In fact just a few days after London in the 1974 using leased PIA Boeing 720s - Actually its stated before that as Malta Airlines using a wet leased BEA Trident overnight on a Friday /Saturday !

Whilst under pressure i don't see them pulling out -Just that they have yet to release the 2016 schedules for sale - Could see the frequency reduce though.

Thanks for that, a few weeks ago there were flights available and they were the cheapest by far. But now there's only flights from LHR and LGW for next year available.

Emirates

MANFOD

Emirates I think operated 23 out of 30 flights with the 428 seat aircraft on EK21/22 (Credit: Libhomeradar) in September. However for the last three months EK have operated the 489/491 seat 388 on the majority of the EK19/20 flights. This takes the load factor to around 84% but I still could be out a little. This is using the EK source website for individual aircraft configs.

I assume the evening 388 must be a fleet issue as usually the 489/491 seat aircraft are on the longer routes.

I assume aircraft availability is the reason for May as I am sure with 23 capacity upgrades on EK21/22 in September indicate this would have happened sooner if it had been possible.
