Making best use of existing capacity is important - and managing this whilst all the work is going on will be key.
Off peak discounted rates already apply and are used by some carriers to operate routes where the timings are not too critical and an away based aircraft can be utilized.
I'm sure that most of the big carriers will understand that things will be difficult during the transformation, but provided they can see the end benefits, they will be prepared to put up with some inconvenience. This could be seen prior to the R2 opening, when they were prepared to accept greater than normal ATC delays as they saw the benefits to come.
Hopefully the Airport are keeping the users regularly up to date with developments in the programme, are listening to their concerns and trying to accommodate them where they can or explaining to customers why certain thing's can't be done. That way everyone feels involved.

Pier B is actually staying, though it will be so extensively refurbished that the final version will be unrecognisable from the Pier B we are all familiar with at present. However, Pier C is going because its location prevents two-way traffic flow on taxiways through to T2.
As some have pointed out, there may be a case for MAG constructing some additional remote aircraft parking stands aside from the terminals redevelopment plan. I don't know what the costings are for this type of work, but they should be affordable based on traffic projections going forward.

I think MAN is now at 22.8m, not 22.4?
The next few months will be interesting.
I fully expect STN to overtake MAN in the winter season, possibly November/December time.
MAN will still grow going forward though. At least 8 newly based passenger aircraft coming for the summer season means a lot of good growth, as well as new routes from away based carriers such as Vueling, Austrian (OS wasnt accounted for this summer so will be growth for next summer) and hopefully SAS will continue their expanded winter flights into summer.
Cargo is one area that grows ever stronger. This should get a good boost this winter with the new Lufthansa Cargo flight, DHL based B757 and the much rumoured Air Bridge Cargo based B747.

It's a non issue and if aircraft are regularly arriving ahead of schedule then it's time airlines adjust schedules accordingly. It happen's over here as well...

Said NOTAM expires 15th Oct (Thurs) and was put in place 17 Aug. It is good communication, which should help prevent excessive waits. I do not see a problem with it at all. You'll find similar at other busy international airports, as pointed out, but quite why DUB is so important in your point I am not too sure.
They could not bother issue it, have a/c arrive too early and have hundreds of people sat on the tarmac for a good while, that'd be worse, and poor management.

Do you know about the effect on the jetstream on long haul flights which can make flight times vary wildly? This is a problem all over the world, not only on stands but also on handling resources.
Issuing a NOTAM means the crew can contact their ops to see if there is likely to be a problem and then can decide how to tackle it eg by slowing down or taking the delay on the ground.
Must be dozens of stand re-allocations every day as events unfold. It's a characteristic of the business...

There are several variables that effect travel times, it's not just the weather and winds.
Congestion and delays at airports have to be factored into schedules hence the "block time" generally being much longer than travel time.

It's been a problem for a long time now but this is the first time I've seen a NOTAM issued regarding early arrivals and I'm glad it has been, saves me personally a lot of hassle

October/November and March/April are the months when airline schedules on long distance West - East - West flights are pretty much a work of fiction.
The winds have an annoying habit of refusing to recognise the IATA scheduling seasons so flight times can be out by over an hour in extreme cases. Airlines' operational departments have brought pressure to bear for years to try and get monthly or at least quarterly schedules to ameliorate this but commercial "wisdom" has always prevailed. Gate holds to absorb the time are not permitted at congested airports hence the early arrivals from the US in October.

Are Rouge and Transat really BOTH reducing? That seems really odd seeing as all the airports around MAN are expanding big time on YYZ. EDI, GLA, DUB, LGW is getting new daily Westjet and Rouge 767s, according to the BHX thread the LF on their YYZ route was 98% in August. All this expansion elsewhere, is there really just a passenger black hole slap bang in the middle off all these other places geographically? If so, why? I know there's Calgary and Vancouver, but most of the above mentioned airports have at least 1 other Canadian route too.
