Either the web guys at Ryanair got a bit carried away, or something else, but, all the extra flights that were showing 'sold out' have now been completely removed.

This includes the 2nd BCn, extra ALC/VLC/PMI etc.

Now, either they get loaded again, or, it was a pure system error. I remember this time last year, Shannon was due to go 10 weekly for S15, with the extra 3 flights showing 'sold out'. They were then removed and, as we know, the extra 3 flights never operated.

I hope it's just a case of removing for now and then having a full scale announcement with the added flights.

At a quick count, I make it 18 weekly departures have been removed and there are 3 others still shown as sold out, 1 each for WMI, LPA, and VLC. Still nothing showing for BRE and TLL.

Whether that removes the need for 8 a/c on 3 days for the first wave, I'm not sure.

I suppose we shouldn't get too deflated about it at this stage albeit a little worrying, although it's hard to believe this is the final program.

When I went through the timetable I included everything but marked the "sold" flights. Other than those marked as sold everything else had times and prices including the the BCN ones.

PMI is or was in fact down one from last year and is still the same as when I checked. The 2nd BCN and extra ALC have gone.
The extra VLC LPA and WMI and one of the two MADs is still showing as sold.

The BRE one MAD and the 3 extra IBZ have gone.

Don't know what to make of it but as said still early days but worrying.

Don't like to be cynical but it did cross my mind that the Vueling factor if, say, they have reduced their plans for MAN for 2016 to just a daily BCN, might be at play here. Although you could argue if Vueling have deferred expansion, it presents a good opportunity for RYR, and EZY for that matter.

Vuelling are 4 per week for most of the summer but rise to 6 at the end of June and to 7 on 1 August.

Monday Tuesday and Thursday requires 8 based units for first wave and the remainder of the week 7.
Ryanair
After the removal of some flights, it looks as if MON & THURS first wave still require 8 a/c.

MAD has gone from TUES (July) so down to 7 based, of which the BLQ flight is shown as 'sold out', so conceivably only 6 required if that is removed.

However, this would suggest there are more changes (hopefully increases) to come and the fact 8 a/c are needed on 2 days gives cause for some optimism.

Are EZY planning to base another A320 at MAN next year like they did this year?

HKG

Interesting data on another forum, quoting MIDT data for pax numbers from Europe to HKG over the last 12 months.

MAN comes 5th after mighty LHR, CDG, AMS and FRA.

Ahead of long running CX markets MXP and FCO, and new market ZRH.

Pax based obviously, and not yield, but fairly impressive all the same.

Doesn't realy surprise me. As someone who has traveled alot between MAN & HKG, I have used CX, QR, EK, KL, LH, LX, & I often find myself on board the HKG service with people originated from MAN.
The only surprise is that CX took so long to re introduce the direct route, which I gather, has often been overbooked. That is despite large numbers still using EK (as I do).

The CX fares from HKG to MAN are usually more expensive than the MEB3, but the six hour time saving over going via the Gulf makes a huge difference and is well worth the extra money imo. Hopefully they will go daily soon

For next year AC Rouge showing 6 weekly in peak summer with no service on Tue (ex MAN). Is that the same as this year or were they daily ?

Nigel, I think it's the evening flight EK19/20 that will be 2 class.

Are you suggesting the 2nd (lunchtime) flight EK17/18 may also be going 2 class?
Edit: I guess you mean the 2nd A380.

EK schedule for winter did not show the 2 class on the evening run, however a corrective e-mail has now been sent, which adds up with what you can book...try booking 1st class after the 01/01/16 and you can only book the morning and lunch time flights.

Looking at configs I think that is roughly 700 extra seats p/w, while maintaining the 777 service for freight.

I was actually unaware of actually how bad the 380 is for cargo...1 single 777 can carry more than 3 x 380's combined !! No wonder EK want to keep with a triple as long as they can, but by adding the 2 class 380 they can have best of both worlds I suppose...increase capacity, keep growth going and keep the 777....for now !

I think one of the reasons for changing the evening flight to two class is the shear number of Business people, and or high, end tourists who use that service. The ability to work most of the day and then leave late evening getting you into DBX at the start of the Business day, or with all the connections for elsewhere going East or even South makes it well used in my experience - it is the one I am always on.

With regards to freight as has been said before it does not care where it fly's from, so my guess would be that EK make more from passengers than freight, and therefore prefer to have passenger capacity currently rather than tonnage lift ability out of Manchester.

Interestingly I was recently on an EK flight to Cape Town from DXB and was talking to the crew about passenger numbers, and where the majority came from. The CSD had a quick check, and as well as myself there were a further 107 UK passengers from out side the London area she thought who had connected through DXB. What was more interesting was my return was (whisper it softly was with BA) and I asked the same question, and was told there were approximately 11 connecting to shuttles. That is quite a disparity, and hints at the "flight" of passengers from the regions to other carriers.

Regards
Mr Mac

EK

Mr Mac

Most on-line seat plans are showing the EK two class A380 as 58 business and 557 economy so a loss of 14 first and 18 business but an extra 130 economy.

Also the first week of September saw EK21 as the 428 seat two class version of the 77W but of course that is reasonably normal with the end of the school holiday period but it seems the back-end is getting the boost rather than the front-end.

Christian Schindler, manager of Lufthansa UK/Eire/Iceland has said that Austrian to Vienna was brought about due to it being the biggest connection via the Lufthansa hubs and one of the most demanded routes from customers.

He also says Manchester is now, along with Heathrow, one of the only UK points to be served by all LH group airlines on a scheduled basis.

M E N business reporting Friday a state visit by Chinese President to Manchester end of October. ....

Given stratospheric levels of new build and investment in the City, now seen internationally as the place to be outside London, maybe news of a Chinese mainland route or daily Cathay is imminent!

Had not checked seat layout, so I stand corrected if that is the case. Bar should be a little less busy then !
